11.01.2022 Has your insurer/agent/broker made you aware of the latest developments? 1. Since January 1st there is an exemption for ‘small’ businesses in NSW on Stamp duty for certain insurance policies. This is a reduction in taxes which doesn’t happen very often so don’t miss out. 2. From February 22nd, the Notifiable Data Breach scheme commences and businesses and organisations can be fined for not notifying affected parties up to $360,000 for individuals (sole trader/partnerships) an...d $1.8 million for organisations/companies. If you are hacked and information is copied or stolen (a data breach) regarding your customers and/or suppliers then you must notify those affected as soon as possible and take steps to increase your security or you could face huge penalties. Breaches also need to be reported to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). If you would like to find out more, please feel free to message or call Martin on 0452 100 800.

01.01.2022 Share and Save this post! I come across a lot of people unsure about what to do if they are ever unfortunate enough to experience a car accident. Here is a step by step guide: If you are involved in an accident: Move yourself and any passengers to a safe place, especially if you are on a busy road or highway Call 000 if anyone has been hurt, the road is blocked, or if any other party refuses to stop or exchange details... In some states you are required to notify the police if a tow truck is required. In NSW, If any vehicle requires towing, the involved drivers are required to report the crash via the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 after leaving the crash site. You will receive an incident report number for insurance purposes at the end of the call. Minor crashes where no vehicles are towed do not require an incident report number for insurance purposes. Write down the following details about the other party or parties involved: o Name o Phone number o Vehicle registration/plate number o Address o Licence number o Insurance details Write down a statement of what happened while it is fresh in your memory Gather the names and phone numbers of any witnesses If safe to do so, take photos of the accident scene and the damage to all vehicles involved Contact your broker to discuss your next steps regarding the claim.
