24.01.2022 As a retail business will you need to have the Covid 19 Check-in system (QR Code) to allow scanning with the my SA Gov App? As from Monday 14 December, retail stores will be required to keep a record of everyone who enters their stores staff and customers. This includes supermarkets, department stores, hardware stores and general retail stores.

24.01.2022 Share the Love. The SA Gov has just launched an Events Advisory Group to act as a 'think tank' for SATC. Their charter is to find a raft of 'world-class' tourism events thru' out the year in SA - to boost bed nights & create jobs. The group is full of 'big hitter' representatives from the tourism industry, events, hospitality & business sector. From a Victor Harbor & South Coast (regional) perspective - we hope they 'Share the Love' - with the focus not being entirely 'Adelaide centric'. A better balanced 'group think' would include a regional representation. Your thoughts??? #breathevictor

23.01.2022 Feeling a bit confused as to whether you can open your business, get your employees geared up for work? Our phone call this morning to the SA.gov hotline & their website (COVID 19- response) suggests we are heading in the direction of 'winding back' towards similar restrictions as in place before last Wednesday. For the latest, you may wish to tune (TV) for the latest briefing @ 10.30am from Premier & Police Commissioner.

23.01.2022 According to the Flexible Lifestyle Survey, while almost a third of people in Adelaide are contemplating a move, the vast majority don't want to leave the state, with 75 per cent preferring to stay within South Australia. When it comes to their dream location, Adelaide residents are looking for somewhere that offers a 'clean and green lifestyle', a phrase often used as a marketing tool by councils on the south coast.

23.01.2022 We encourage our members and the wider business community to have your say on the Regional Voice Survey by Business SA and help raise the profile around issues and opportunities facing regional businesses.

23.01.2022 We have just experienced a short sharp 'painful' insight into what life (and business) could be like if we fail to get on top of COVID and keep it in check. It's insidious, moves quickly & silently across our communities. We in the business community can all set the example of minimum standards in our businesses, with staff and customers following SA Health's recommendations. The reality is this is the 'new norm' for some time. Stay safe.

14.01.2022 For most businesses, the About Us page on their website is one of the most viewed pages. Generally, it comes in second behind Pricing, not including the Home Page, of course. Is that true for you? If it is, you need to ensure it contains good quality content that makes readers feel a connection with your business. That’s why they go there in the first place. They’re looking to know more about you. If you don’t give it to them, you’re missing an opportunity to allow them into ...your world and make a connection. People buy from those they like. But what makes an effective About Us page? One that will resonate with your audience and that means having the following things: http://ow.ly/TutB30rb5aC

12.01.2022 The closure of the small family-owned abattoirs @ Strathalbyn has some very negative impacts both economical & environmental across our region. Not only is there a direct loss of a family business which employed 14 full time & casual employees. For many small cattle & sheep graziers, it may become uneconomical to continue growing livestock owing to the lack of local abattoir facilities able to cater for smaller numbers, as opposed to travelling longer distances to larger comm...ercial facilities. Whilst these smaller graziers may not necessarily generate significant incomes, the income in many cases is sufficient to offset operational costs and stay in the rural environment. When you consider the large number of these smaller graziers across the region - they contribute significant economic 'churn' through their local economies - everything from rural suppliers/contractors, accountants, physiotherapist, hairdresser - you get the picture. From an environmental perspective, these smaller graziers are likely to have been reducing ' food miles' by 'paddock to plate goods' sold through local butchers & markets. Many invest in the mitigation of invasive weed species and grazing/slashing large areas of grasslands vegetation minimising bush fire risks. With few commercial alternatives, should the cost or convenience of 'small herd' grazing become too prohibitive, the impact will be both environmental & economic felt across the Fleurieu and lower Lakes. One would hope the state government may assist in either a feasibility study around creating a viable 'artisan meat’ processing/export standard facility &/or supporting potential purchasers. 04.01.2022 The evolving COVID situation in NSW has seen a hardening of border restrictions. Details below. After nearly 60days Victoria now has a reported 6 locally acquired COVID cases. 03.01.2022 In a study done by the Shapiro Group and Market Street Services, they found that when someone knows a small business is a member of its local chamber of commerce, they were 44 percent more likely to think favorably of it and 63 percent more likely to purchase goods or services from the company in the future. But that’s not all they found. 59% of consumers polled believed being active in your chamber is an effective business strategy. For companies that can show they are act...ive in the chamber, 12% of consumers are more likely to think the business’ products or services stack up better than their non-member competition. On membership alone! Pretty impressive. Some industries will also be happy to know that chamber membership plays an even bigger role in whether someone will buy from them. For instance, in the insurance industry perspective buyers were 43% more likely to buy from a chamber member. Invest in your business and join Business Victor Harbor today: http://ow.ly/akOh30ruobs
