22.01.2022 One of our favourite buses. Stephen and Wendy's Kombiweddings Split. Here we used TMI materials on our Laser cut door and panel cards with TMI custom replacement seat covers made to our specs.

22.01.2022 Alex Tomlinson's very tidy original condition 57 Oval in for a fresh set of pads, covers and cards supplied by Lenny Copp at West Coast Classic Restoration. Alex persevered with the original interior but after 63 years of faithful service it was time.

21.01.2022 The Pop-Up Kombi Company's pop-up bar come coffee bar come disco booth, in for an interior to match the detail that's gone into the exterior and the build itself. Creator Phil Cole assures us no healthy Kombis were sacrificed in the making of... whatever we call this. Built by Brian Davies at Unique Classic and Custom with bits sourced by Rick at Volksrecycle, you'll be seeing The Pop-Up Kombi at events all over Melbourne. 18.01.2022 Was reminiscing about some of the Utes I've had the privelidge of caretaking over the past 10 years of living the dream (and occasional nightmare) at Busnbug. They were all good things to start with and the earlier of the three generations are now in the very good hands of their current owners. Still running the T3 as a daily and loving it.

15.01.2022 Must be headliner season. This time a Bay Panel.

15.01.2022 If you like a decent stereo but don't like the look of modern speaker covers in your 40+ year old ride, old school perforated speaker grilles in your door cards and kick panels are the go. Keep things looking period. Doing them for Splits and Bays.

14.01.2022 Occasionally we get to see some beautiful original cars. This 71 Beetle is one of them. There's nothing like seeing everything exactly as it was fitted by the factory. She's been in a couple of times for various bits and pieces but this visit was to have the original carpet replaced. It had been painted black at some stage, probably to hide the signs of ageing. There are a few pics showing just how clean the car is and some after and before pics of the fitting of the carpet k...it and deleting the rear window vents. New vent covers are unobtainium and the old ones all suffered the same problem of drying up and disintegrating. Shame to block the vents but this old girl needs to keep up appearances. The carpet is a TMI kit for cars using the original rubber mats. I'm sure they don't sell many because the rubber mats usually suffered the same fate as the rear window vents. The TMI reproduction of the original carpet is spot on. See more

14.01.2022 One of my Ankor Wax customers, Bonez Paint Restoration in Williamstown SA has just Ankor Waxed this Ford Truck that was painted in satin about 10 years ago. The satin paint had become porous and chalky and was starting to hold dirt and grim, looking pretty ordinary in general. Bonez has treated the paint with Ankor Wax which will not only protect it from the elements, it prevents rust and has given the truck a nice even satin finish that repels water. 13.01.2022 Cabin of the 69 Lowlight in and done. New cabin headliner, visors, TMI cards and seat covers on restored seats with new springs in the passenger base, inner and outer pedestal mats, front windows restored with new scrapers, felts and seals. Front speakers hidden behind perforated speaker grilles in the front door cards. All fresh. Like a bought one. Gotta love a painted dash.

12.01.2022 Obviously not a Volkswagen but thought it worth sharing here. Belonged to my late father-in-law.

12.01.2022 Couple of nice Lowlight Dormobile interior restorations we did a while back. Doing another couple at the moment and found these pics while doing some study. They're a great conversion and you can still get most bits for them which is a credit to Dormobile. The fixed roof of Coastal Kombi Weddings bus makes the perfect tourer with the big skylights.

12.01.2022 Another Winner! Congratulations to Bob Van Munster for his Best Of Show win at the Nationals Concourse on the weekend. I've had the pleasure of working on some pretty tidy restorations but Bob's 65 Split Bus is impeccable front to back, top to bottom. More pics coming.

11.01.2022 Looks very familiar.

10.01.2022 A Camper we've worked on bit by bit over the years for two consecutive owners came in for its last visit. Fitted a RnR bed upholstered to match the front seats, replaced the nastiest foam headlining ever seen with one in the original black dot material. Added some LED down lights and designed and built our first set of cabinets with fold away table. Fitted new cards all round, installed a Retrosound head unit with amp and sub, slapped a lid on the glovebox and she was good to go.

08.01.2022 The 69 Lowlight ready to go home. The owners have something different planned for the roof in the back hence the cabin headliner only.

08.01.2022 Just finished this one for John and Faye Hughes in Sydney. Hard to know what colour interior to do in a yellow bus but Faye's choice of Black and White houndstooth has worked out rather nicely. The bus had a dark blue interior and tinted windows making for a fairly dark interior but the Cream and Houndstooth has brightened things up no end.

08.01.2022 Just finished this one for Stephen and Wendy at Kombi Weddings in Sydney. Bit of a departure from the original interior combinations and accessories but I think it still captures the period charm.

07.01.2022 Bob Van Munster's 65 Split Microbus winner of 'Best of Show' at this years Nationals Concourse in Sydney. TMI Grey/Mesh Grey Vintage vinyls on our Busnbug LASER cut cards, TMI Seat Covers and Headliner. Retrosound Bluetooth stereo with mini 300W amp and 10" sub hidden behind the front passenger seat. Perforated speaker grilles in the front doors and rear kick panel hide Blaupunkt speakers. Dynamat Noise insulation throughout.

06.01.2022 Some nice Splitty cards heading of to SA for a very nice, different sort of Split about to debut. Colours are Mesh Red and Brick Red which as far as I know didn't come here. They were Microbus Deluxe colours from German production for 65-67.

05.01.2022 Beautifully restored 69 Lowlight in recently for a fresh new interior. The project has been 10 years in the making and off for registration today. Stay tuned for progress pics of the interior restoration.

05.01.2022 Real nice original condition Lowlight Microbus Deluxe came in for a full interior makeover.

05.01.2022 Splitty Panel Vans can be a pretty agricultural drive but Warwick wanted to go all out to build a Panel with all the luxury and comfort we could install. High quality man made leather was used throughout with full Dynamat insulation to keep it super quite and luxurious inside.

05.01.2022 Jason Barnfather's immaculate 71 Squareback restoration in progress, in for a headliner and to have glass and seals fitted. The paint on this is as good as it gets, outside and in. So glad the motor was out allowing access to rear sections of the roof. I reckon that's how they would have done them in the factory. Some progress pics of the liner going in over a few days, allowing time for the material to stretch into its new position each night before pulling up to maximum stretch the next day.

04.01.2022 The 69 Lowy came as a blank canvas. Everything painted and perfectly clean. Old cabin headliner was still in so out with it and in with the Dynamat and Ankor Wax in the bottoms of the front doors.

02.01.2022 A nice 63 Beetle we had in recently for a whole lotta love. The original Blue/Grey interior was just a bit tired. (Only got 40 odd years out of it.) Still nice but wasn't going to cut it with all the new and fresh stuff around it. Looks like a nice place to be on a sunny Sunday arvo.
