09.01.2022 Yesterday it was asbestos and now they wont fit under the bridges along their route. These are the new ferries that the NSW Government paid $1.3 billion for and... sent the construction work and jobs offshore to China, Singapore and Indonesia. Following the delivery of some of the new ferries last week, the Maritime Union of Australia - MUA discovered asbestos in gaskets on three of the new vessels. And now, 10 new Sydney ferries will not be able to pass under two bridges on the Parramatta River if commuters are seated on the top deck. Passengers will be required to come down off the top deck of the ferries before the ferries can procced. Last year the Government bought trains from South Korea that didnt fit the tracks. The is proves that we should always Build them here. We have world class train and boat builders right here in the Hunter. Photos Newcastle Herald The Sydney Morning Herald
09.01.2022 DIRECT BUS CONNECTION BETWEEN MARKETOWN AND NEWCASTLE EAST From Sunday 13 December, the route of the 23 service will be extended to provide a direct connectio...n between Marketown and Newcastle East, an improvement the residents and I have been fighting for. Particularly for the elderly residents, using the light rail was not feasible due to the walk between the stop and the shopping centre, which only became more difficult if they were also carrying shopping. This may seem like a little win, but it will actually make a big difference to the people who will be using it. Timetable information will be available from Sunday 29 November at newcastletransport.info or by calling 131 500. You can also pop into the Newcastle Interchange if you would like to speak to someone in person. Thanks to Newcastle East residents and the Rail, Tram and Bus Union for working with me to advocate for this important service. Thank you Newcastle Transport and Transport for NSW for listening and acting on the community’s concerns.

08.01.2022 Sydneys inner west bus services are getting a shakeup, including more trips - but not all commuters will be pleased. Many routes will be changed and some close...d. Extra weekly services will be created on routes 348, 389, 412, 413, 420, 423, 428, 433, 440, 445, 464, 470, 502 and 504, with services on many of these routes operating more frequently throughout the day. "These changes obviously are to ensure that we keep our services up-to-date. The data were getting from Opal, feedback from our bus operators, stakeholders and the community has said we want to simplify our network, we want to make the route numbering easier and ensure that we get people around. Additional services make it important in these COVID times, providing more space, more capacity on those busy routes." - Howard Collins - Transport for NSW www.7NEWS.com.au #SydneyBuses #7NEWS

06.01.2022 SAFETY WIN - this (early) morning members stood up to the NSW Government for safety and had a win. At around 4.30am, we received confirmation from Transport fo...r NSW that the Mission Readiness Exercise would be cancelled! Thankfully the dangerous NIF operating model will now not be tested on the Intercity network this weekend. Further, Transport agreed that it would immediately enter into a series of meetings with the Union to discuss and resolve the issues that members have been raising about the New Intercity Fleet for years. NSW Trains members are now returning to work having shown that standing together as a Union can, and does, produce results!
