24.01.2022 Incredible morning for the Busselton Blue Tree project. Extraction of our symbolic tree, Strong Roots from Helen Shervy's farm. Followed up with a mammoth insta...llation task at 55 Bussel Highway. Thanks so much to Luke from VMS our crane operator and Chris from Tradehire who supplied the truck. Plus great expertise from both these guys. Gerrard from Wren building finessing the installation after some more industrial chainsaw work from Jon Eddie. Cheers Mark for your rigging and welding expertise. The drill bit supplied by Muray from SW steel was damn long and fit for purpose. All round an awesome team effort. So many people getting involved and embracing the themes of connection, conversations and hope that the blue tree represents. Get involved by snapping up some tickets in the Blue Tree Project raffle in support of Blue Tree plus other not for profits via https://www.rafflelink.com.au/bluetree and by participating in the community painting day on Saturday 25th July. 24.01.2022 Join the Man Walk Busselton on Monday 21st September to hear Mathew Mumme (Youth worker in both Australia and the USA) discuss his work and the complex issue of fatherlessness. Interesting article on the topic by John Anderson (Prior Deputy Prime Minister) published in The Australian Newspaper earlier this month.

23.01.2022 The Man Walk Busselton continues this Monday 28th irrespective of it being a long weekend. If your work normally means you can't make the regular walks, perhaps... this is an opportunity to come along. Walk starts from the foot of the jetty at 6.30am then coffee and Man Chat at the Goose from 7.15 till 8.00am. This weeks presenter is Dan Kozyrski. Dan was an Infantry Soldier in the Australian army and served in East Timor and Afghanistan between 2005 until his discharge in 2012. During his deployment he witnessed many acts of extreme violence directed towards himself and his combat units culminating in the deadly explosion of an IED at close range resulting in severe injuries to three of his men - and severe PTSD. Dan has used his lived experience of healing through collaborating with various holistic health practitioners as his inspiration to create Southern Fire Wellness. His use of the surrounding countryside for grounding and reconnection also plays an enormous part not only in his own continued healing but also the healing of those that seek out Dan and Southern Fire Wellness Dan is also the owner of the fabulous Black Sheep Deli / Cafe in Cowaramup. Dan is a member of the men's emotional health and wellbeing panel at the forthcoming South West Holistic Health Practitioner Network Wellness Symposium in Busselton on 31st October. Tickets available for in person or online participation in the symposium via Eventbrite website. Join us on Monday. Walking speed no constraint as it is out and back to the same start and finish point. All fellas welcome.

21.01.2022 Great progress today with the footings being started for the Blue Tree Busselton symbol that is being installed at GeoBay Health Centre at 55 Bussell Highway. B...rilliant work from Jon, Mark and Gerard bringing a range of technical and brute strength capabilities to the task. Plus great energy, humour and mateship. The process has been an incredible community collaboration with all materials and services donated by businesses and individuals in the region. It seems that almost everyone has been touched in some way by the impact of mental health challenges and or deaths by suicide. Some of the businesses contributing to this stage of the project include: Busselton Building Products (Craig and Brett) Galvin's Plumbing Plus Hanson Concrete Busselton Wren Building Margaret River Structural Engineering (Roger Pateman) City of Busselton - Local Government Southwest Steel (Murray) So many other businesses supporting the relocation and installation. We look forward to acknowledging all of them as the project moves forward. The Strong Roots online raffle fundraiser is set to be launched next week. Follow us at Rubix Health for more information on this and the amazing array of other businesses that have supported the creation of truly amazing prize valued at $5000. Be sure to jump in buy some tickets in support of not for profits: The Blue Tree Project, Shining Hope WA and The Man Walk national group.

The fundraiser is aligned with the Busselton community's work to erect a symbol of hope - a blue tree. The tree will be re-engineered, painted blue and located in a highly visible location. Perfect arvo for a walk on the foreshore followed ...by an engaging conversation lead by Psychologist Wayne McIntosh. The topic of "Opening the door to communication for teenage men" provided a great base to discuss how we can forge stronger relationships through better communication. Thanks City of Busselton youth services, Rio Tinto, The Man Walk Community, Dardanup Burchering Company, Rise and Co Bakery and Rok Kombucha. 02.01.2022 Wettest Man Walk to date on Monday. Deceptive blue sky at the outset but no visibility of the cape and a rainbow was a give away for what was in store. Well don...e to the 13 blokes that braved the conditions. Cleared up and air dried by the time we were back at the Goose to hear from the Man Walk community founder Mark Burns via Zoom from Kiama in NSW. Great to hear about the history of the movement and aspirations to bring Man Walks to all local government areas in Australia. Good aspiration, but they may not have heard that we still have 140 odd local government areas in WA so the challenge is on! See more
