24.01.2022 Armistice Day 1918 signaled the end of World War I and through all wars and conflicts since that time, Australia has lost more than 100,000 military personnel in the line of duty. At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, we will remember them. #RememberanceDay2020 #AustraliaRemembers

22.01.2022 Catch our Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Darren Klemm AFSM and Superintendent Peter Sutton on the premiere of ABC’s Big Weather tonight at 8:30pm! The three-part mini-series explores how our weather is changing and what we can do to survive it.

21.01.2022 On this day last year NSW recorded 17 concurrent Emergency Warnings. Communities in the Blue Mountains, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Walcha, Armidale, Namb...ucca, Kempsey, Tenterfield, and the Mid Coast were all being impacted by fire. At 6pm 94 fires were burning across the state. While the losses on that day were significant they could have been far worse were it not for the extraordinary efforts of firefighters and community members. See more

20.01.2022 There’s a new kid on the Emergency WA block! DFES and the Department of Health (HealthyWA) have partnered to customise the Emergency WA website (www.emergency.w...a.gov.au) to include map-based ‘human pandemic’ warnings if they’re needed. The website is now equipped to show localised outbreaks of COVID-19 and provide targeted information to communities impacted. While we hopefully don’t have to use it, this enhancement is part of the WA Government preparation for potential outbreaks of COVID-19 in WA. To help keep the community safe, remember to: Practise good hygiene and wash your hands regularly. Maintain a physical distance from others where possible. Stay home if you’re sick. If you’re experiencing symptoms, get tested immediately. Stay home and self-isolate if you are waiting for your test results.

20.01.2022 DFES FEATURES IN NATIONAL DOCUMENTARY SERIES BIG WEATHER Tune in Tuesday night for the premiere of the ABC’s new three-part documentary series, Big Weather, hosted by ABC presenter Craig Reucassel of War on Waste fame. Two episodes of the Big Weather series which airs nationally at 8.30pm on Tuesday evenings between 13 and 27 October feature personnel from the WA Fire and Emergency Services Academy in Forrestfield and volunteers from the Bullsbrook Volunteer Fire and Em...ergency Services (VFES). Big Weather reflects on the devastating effects extreme weather can have on the nation and how these events have shaped Australia’s story. It will examine the impacts of heatwaves, drought and catastrophic bushfires and the impact and changing nature of cyclones, super storms and floodwaters. The series covers major incidents that occurred across Australia last summer, and features a ‘how to survive’ segment in each episode that draws upon the expert knowledge of emergency services personnel. Additionally, it investigates why extreme weather events are becoming less predictable and more intense and what ordinary Australians can do to adapt, survive and prosper into the future.

16.01.2022 An early reminder of how easily things can escalate and become out of control.

12.01.2022 ** UPDATE ** 3-year-old missing boy James has been located in bushland alive by a family member who was assisting with the land search operation. Given the tim...e he has spent exposed to the rough terrain and poor weather conditions, arrangements will be made for him to have a medical check-up as a precaution. WA Police Force thanks all the emergency service volunteers and community members who assisted with the search. Original Post: Police are searching for a missing 3-year-old boy James in the area around Karli Rise, Yallingup. James was last seen about 7:30am today, Saturday 19 September 2020. James is described as fair skinned with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is wearing white ‘Spiderman’ pyjamas. It is believed James is also wearing wellington boots. Anyone who sees James is asked to remain with him and call Police immediately on 000. While some search resources will scale down overnight, Police will remain in the search area and continue to conduct patrols and search for James. If James is not located by tonight, the full search operation will continue tomorrow. Important message from Police in relation to locals residents attending the search area: - Thank you to everyone who has attended the search area. The response has been significant. - It is important members of the public do not venture into the bushland areas as they may inadvertently compromise evidence of where James has walked, and that could impact on the ability of trained searchers to track his movements. - Anyone who is in the area already is asked to stick to the main tracks and roads. - At this time there is no need for further members of the public to attend the location. - For those people who are already on site it is important they register their attendance at the Incident Command Post which is located at the DFES SES building on Caves Road. Post last updated at 7:20pm 19/09/2020.

12.01.2022 It has been a big weekend of training for us and many other VFRS and BFB Brigades in our District. We had our 6 monthly Breathing Apparatus (BA) Refresher which, in addition to practicing our skills, this one introduced the Role of BA Control Officer (BACO) - a position that is introduced to provide additional support for larger more complex incidents. Members from Dunsborough, Yallingup and Cowaramup Brigades also took time out of their weekend to participate in this train...ing. There was also approximately 18 new recruits from the City Busselton Augusta/Margaret River and from around the Capes Region that completed their Introductory Bush and Fire Fighting training in preparation for our next bushfire season. None of this could happen without the dedicated support, help and hard work of our local DFES District and Area Officers, the Community Emergency Services Managers and the behind the scenes Support Staff and of course the Volunteers. #DFES #VFRS #BFB #COB #AMR
