23.01.2022 Bringing the Museum to you....as well as having many artifacts inside the building the Butter Factory also has beautiful grounds.

22.01.2022 Things are progressing towards the reopening of the museum. There is a big job ahead as we start to move things back into the display rooms. Thanks to the City of Busselton, the tradesmen, our volunteers and especially the Museum Committee who have put in many organisational hours over the last couple years.

11.01.2022 There is no fixed re-opening date yet for the museum, the museums volunteers are so looking forward to reopening the displays and showing the public the refurbished upstairs rooms. The outside buildings are still packed with displays and the gardens and view of the river is as beutiful as ever. Until then here are a few photo's!

09.01.2022 Thanks to all the volunteers who helped pack up artifacts over the last few days at the museum. Extra fireproofing need a to be done so many items had to be packed into storage. A special thanks to our volunteer backpackers.

08.01.2022 In March 2018 a fire caused extensive damage mainly to the First floor of the museum. Since then we had workshops on how to clean the fire damaged goods, continued work on restoring old artifacts, started new displays, and continued maitenance work on the grounds of the museum. Asbestos removal, lead contamination, pidgeon guano and Covid and many more challenges have slowed the restoration process. However we now feel we are on the "home run" but with much work still to be done to place all the artifacts back into the museum. We do not yet have an reopening date but we are hoping it will be before the end of the year. New members always welcome. Positions exist for grounds keepers, restoration of artifacts, research and eventually host teams.

08.01.2022 Associate Professor Nathan Wise from the University of New England is back with another instalment of his blog series. He discusses the current climate surrounding COVID-19 and embracing digital forms of social interaction. Head over to the Traces blog to hear his thoughts.

08.01.2022 There’s been a lot of community concern regarding the potential influx of visitors to the region over the next few weeks. Council shares your apprehension. The... Premier has urged people not to undertake non-essential travel and Council fully supports this stance. Our Local Member has also written to the relevant Ministers urging them to reiterate this message in the strongest possible terms. The City is instigating State and Federal restrictions as soon as they occur and in several cases, like for example the closure of our recreation centres, we’ve acted well ahead. However, we do not have the power to compel hotels and accommodation to close - this may well change in coming days. What we can do is implore people to take the advice of their State and Federal Leaders and stay at home do not undertake unnecessary travel. Do not come to the South West expecting to visit wineries, pubs and restaurants because this simply won’t be the case. The only way to stop the spread of COVID-19 is to observe strict social distancing regulations, maintain good hand hygiene and stay home if you are sick. For the safety and well-being of our community, Council is imploring tourists and visitors planning to visit the City of Busselton over the next couple of months to seriously rethink their need to travel. Following recent announcements made by the Prime Minister, we have seen many of our local operators forced to make extremely hard decisions about the immediate future of their businesses. Council applauds the way our community has pulled together and we thank local businesses for acting so diligently to implement Government regulations. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the City of Busselton in the future but PLEASE now is not the time. For your health and the health of our community, stay HOME until this pandemic is over. Please share this post Mayor Grant Henley

06.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce the re-opening of the Butter Factory Museum on the 19th December.
