22.01.2022 R U OK? Day 10 September 2020 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. The message for R U OK?Day 2020 is ‘There’s more to say after R U OK?’ We want Australians to know what to say when someone says they’re not OK and guide them through how they can continue a conversation that could change a life.... You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. You can learn what to say at www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

14.01.2022 well done to all our year 3/4 students who attended today’s Tennis Gala

12.01.2022 The staff from Room 23 would like to extend a huge thank you to Woolworths for donating an amazing variety of fruit and vegetables for the students to learn about. The students were able to look at some products they had never seen before and classify what part of a plant they came from. We then cut up some fruits and vegetables so the students could look at the seeds, smell the product and feel the different textures. This part of the activity generated some great discussion and oral language. Finally, they were able to taste the different items, pineapples being amongst the favourite and radishes certainly the least liked! This activity could not have been possible without the amazing generosity of Woolworths.

11.01.2022 Reminder our annual SPLASHALONG fundraising event is on this Friday!

11.01.2022 Congratulations to Oliver Wright and family for winning the wood raffle valued at $170 Thank you to all who purchased tickets and for supporting the fundraising efforts of 2020 for Busselton Primary P&C!

09.01.2022 Geographe Bay Music Workshop 2020 As part of the schools’ instrumental programme, a combined workshop for all of the primary school instrumental students was held on Monday at the Busselton SHS Performing Arts Centre. The aim of this workshop was to introduce the younger students to the band programme and foster peer-group support and musical standards through rehearsal and performance. This was the first opportunity for our year five students to be involved in a large grou...p performance. A short concert of the pieces rehearsed closed the days activities which was a delight to hear. Well done to all our Instrumental Students. See more

08.01.2022 Happy NAIDOC week everyone, NAIDOC Week celebrations are being held across Australia this week as NAIDOC commences today Sunday 8th Nov till Sunday 15th Nov. N...AIDOC is a time to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’, the acronym has since become the name of the week itself. This years NAIDOC theme 'Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country. This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. Australia has the world’s oldest oral stories. The First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremony and invented unique technologies. We built and engineered structures - structures on Earth - predating well-known sites such as the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. Our adaptation and intimate knowledge of Country enabled us to endure climate change, catastrophic droughts and rising sea levels. Always Was, Always Will Be. acknowledges that hundreds of Nations and our cultures covered this continent. All were managing the land - the biggest estate on earth - to sustainably provide for their future. Through Ingenious land management systems like fire stick farming we transformed the harshest habitable continent into a land of bounty. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. For us, this nation’s story began at the dawn of time. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. Always was Always will be.... See more

06.01.2022 Spring known for its beautiful wildflowers, sunnier weather and swooping koolbardi. Koolbardi (Magpie) breed between August and October and become very territorial during this time in order to protect their young hence why they swoop unsuspecting passers-by. If you come across a territorial koolbardi please keep the following in mind:... Never deliberately provoke or harass a koolbardi. Throwing sticks or stones usually makes them more defensive. Koolbardi have good memories and they may continuously swoop a potential aggressor. Avoid areas where koolbardi are known to swoop. Remember, koolbardi hostility lasts only a few weeks and they usually only defend a small area of about 100m radius around their nest. Locate the bird and keep watching it when entering its territory. If it swoops, don’t crouch in fear or stop: move on quickly but don’t run. If you are riding a bike make sure you wear a helmet, and dismount and walk through nesting magpie territory. Wear a hat and sunglasses or carry an umbrella for protection. Koolbardi initially attack from behind but can swoop back around. Adopt a confident stance as this can have a strong deterrent effect. Remember that the koolbardi are just trying to protect their young. Learning to live alongside wildlife is an important step towards building a better living environment and observing and listening to koolbardi can be an enjoyable experience. If you find a sick or injured koolbardi contact the Wildcare Helpline on 9474 9055 for information on registered wildlife rehabilitators and centres who can assist you with your enquiry.

06.01.2022 Day 3 of Yr 6 camp... well our last day included, nature bush walk- which included informative understanding of various trees in the bush and their role. There was some more cubby building, tag archery, before we said our goodbyes to the awesome staff and leaders at Camp Dare. We have all learnt to ...be present, work as a team and cooperate with one another and had opportunities to try something new and build on our own self esteem... We had some awesome comments from camp staff on how great the students are and the school staff who attended, are so proud of all the students over the past 3 days, by the way they have shown respect, integrity and the way they supported one another. . Well done Yr 6, you have made your school proud.
