25.01.2022 A wonderful moment on set today, with our CEO Tracey receiving an Aspire Award - for Individual Best Achievement in The Arts. Tracey was nominated by Women in Film and TV Australia, and was presented her medal by WIFT Australia Board Member and WIFT NSW Chapter representative Megan Riakos. The Aspire Awards celebrate the wonderful contribution people with a disability make to their professional and community settings. 22.01.2022 ArtScreen 2021 Launch + ArtScreen 2020 Premiere The world premiere of a new video artwork from NSW artist Debra Keenahan is set to feature during the online launch of ArtScreen 2021 on Wed 2 Dec at 10:30am, the day before this year’s International Day Of People With Disability. ArtScreen is a video art initiative for artists with disability developed by Accessible Arts with the support of various government, industry and community partners. ... Titled LITTLE THINGS MATTER, Debra’s artwork is a provocative social critique of the dehumanisation of people with dwarfism and was created through this year’s edition of ArtScreen with funding from the City of Sydney. In addition to showcasing Debra’s artwork, the online launch will include an overview of next year’s initiative, reveal the ArtScreen 2021 mentors and provide details of how to access production funding. 20.01.2022 Melbourne Fringe kicks off today. Here's a wrap from the team of what you can expect! We have over 250 events for you, created by artists who have dreamt up, worked and reworked art in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. We have built a platform for you to enjoy this work, and as well as digital, there's work you can take offline and outdoors. Our program is evolving, so keep an eye on your inbox for more exciting shows going on sale in the next few weeks. ... Get ready for 18 days of non-stop art, online, analogue, in your home and on the streets. The festival is mostly through our Digital Fringe platform but there are a number of socially distanced and Covid-19 safe one on one events and outdoor events. Our Digital Fringe platform has a digital foyer and chat function where you can mingle, just like IRL. This year we have heaps shows by Deaf and disabled artists check them out in our Disability and Deaf arts Guide to Fringe. There’s satirical comedy, a writing showcase, poetry told in Auslan, a 12 hour Animal Crossing game show, mental health advocacy, a spoken word showcase and much more. The unique screen industry focused workshop is aimed at production companies and filmmakers with a focus on gaining a better understanding of the rights and capacity of people living with disability. The workshop explores pathways to employment, engaging people living with disability within organisations and productions and is underpinned by the principles of inclusive filmmaking, complementing Bus Stop's `The Inclusive Filmmaking Toolkit'.
