Anytime we encounter something new, our brains search for ways to understand it using the only available information it has prior knowledge. ... There are many ways our brains process information. One of those ways is by using context (constancy and relationship). One aspect of context is constancy the ability to understand variations of the same thing. For example, a red apple and a green apple are both apples; a tall woman and a short woman are both woman. This is necessary to even understand even basic instructions such as Please put your toys away. If a child does not understand that his truck and his teddy bear are both toys then he cant follow the instruction. Relationship is another aspect of context. It is the ability to understand the connection between two apparently different things. In this way, children are creating their own personal catalog of relationships that helps them organize the flood of information they gather each day. 17.01.2022 MAKE IT MONDAY! Ok Mummas this one will take a little longer to set up but it is totally, totally worth the effort and is totally, totally reusable AND will give your kiddo hours and hours of fun. This is the pasta that has been out on our (former) play table for a good 12 months. Of course Ive added to the tray but essentially this pasta started its coloured life some time ago.... All youll need is pasta, food colouring and either vinegar or rubbing alchohol divide your pasta into ziplock bags, one for each colour. add enough food color and your liquid (vinegar or rubbing alcohol) to each bag. Close the bag tight and moosh it all around. Pasta has lots of texture so youll want it to be fairly liquidy to get into all the grooves. Once youre happy with the colour then lay it out on some aluminium foil or baking paper to dry for a few hours. Fully dried pasta will mean it will last longer. Handy Tip 1: Make your pasta in the evening, when the kids are asleep. The process will be much quicker. Youll also secretly have fun doing the smooshing. It really is quite therapeutic. Laying it overnight will make sure its fully dry and ready to play with as soon as your kiddos are up!!!! Handy Tip: Hold onto the ziplock bags for later. If you dont have washi tape line it up with the wooden floor (which I didnt do LOL) or use the lines on the floor til That could be a fun activity all on its own......looking for lines around the house!!... For your bigger kids, use a ruler as your divider and then you can even use the ruler to measure the blocks even our baby bees can enjoy this activity. A few baskets scattered around your play area will provide opportunities for your bubbas to mouth, holding, manipulate and exploring the duplo. Sometimes we choose toy options that do things. This is a great activity where the baby bee is the doer!
