23.01.2022 Just following on from this morning’s post about play, I thought this post from the awesome Raised Good was quite fitting. Whilst our Busy Books are educational they are also a great play tool. Sometimes we need to step back from the pressure and the concept that we need to help our children learn, and that we therefore need to correct their mistakes. ... The mistakes they make are how they learn. And they learn best through play, not through having their parent or caregiver correcting them as they play. That’s not to say you don’t help them when they ask for help, it’s important they feel supported as they play and learn too. It’s a hard pill to swallow but once you master that yourself you will see your child grow and flourish in front of your eyes. Sometimes our children are our teacher too

But it is so so important that we do give our kids some quality connection play, as often as we can, where they are the only, and most important, thing in the room and your mind. Our Busy Books are a great play and educational tool to help create that connection with you and your little one. Let them lead the way and be there to offer guidance, support and encouragement. 09.01.2022 When I started Busy Books Australia it was clear to me what I wanted to achieve. I wanted to create quality education products that engaged toddlers, creating a fun learning environment alone and in groups, that allowed parents and carers to have a bit of a breather. Now 4 months after Busy Books Australia launched we have helped hundreds of toddlers learn about Colours, Shapes, Emotions, Patterns, the Alphabet, Numbers and basic Writing Skills, all whilst learning core dev...elopmental skills such as problem solving hand eye coordination fine motor skills focus and control attention to detail and concentration and patience Hundreds of parents have collectively breathed a sigh of relief as they now regularly get the chance to put their feet up and enjoy a HOT cup of tea or coffee! Dozens of Early Learning Educators, Special Education Departments, Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists are sharing these resources with their students. And I couldn't be more proud! Thank you for the support of this small rural Aussie business. I am currently finalising the design concepts for a third Busy Book. I hope to have this one ready for you early next year. 09.01.2022 This is a the beautiful @havens.hope Havens amazing Mumma Kim recently shared a little about Haven and her Busy Book journey with us here us, here’s what she had to say: Haven has a rare blood disease called Diamond Blackfan Anemia which resulted in a stroke at 12 months of age and then the diagnosis of cerebral palsy. She has alot of behaviour issues and sensory processing disorder so with the busy books, it helps her to learn but it’s fun so she doesnt realise she is le...arning. She calls it her special book When asked if she enjoys her Busy Books Kim said: Yes she really does. She will do the whole book she loves it. She was meant to start prep next year but to get her to sit and focus is hard with the brain damage. But she thrives with her busy books. I am hoping to start the letter one soon and get her to recognise some letters Thank you for making busy books. It really is a blessing for Haven. We have tried multiple things to help Haven, she attends alot of therapy and your busy books definately helps with her learning. We are so thrilled to be able to provide Haven with educational resources that she enjoys playing and learning with. It’s moments like this which are our WHY and our motivation to do what we do and continue to creat more Busy Books. Do you have a Busy Book story you would like us to tell? We would love to feature you and your little one. Please send us a DM or email us on [email protected]

I’ve heard this from a lot of other Busy Book Mummas too WIN / WIN right there Mummas! So join the club and claim some valuable YOU time back! Invest in some Busy Books today

07.01.2022 What age are our Busy Books suitable for? We are used to most toys coming with a lifespan label. A toy is marketed as suitable for a certain age and being useful for a three or six month period. Past this point, a toy is positioned or assumed to be no longer be suitable. Educational toys really suffer from this, as they are assumed to be not useful for under or over a particular age bracket. In turn, they are seen to have a short shelf life. In many shops educational toys mig...ht be displayed in sections that are not intended for babies and young toddlers. Even worse is an educational toy only being certified for 36 months and over. Thereby not being suitable for children to safely engage with educational resources. Our Busy Books are ideal for little toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children alike. So you can see the value of these toys lies in years of use, not months! Introducing your child to things such as Colours, Shapes, Patterns, the Alphabet, Numbers and Writing Skills at a young age helps expose them to these topics and encourage the desire to learn. Sitting and reading the Busy Book to your young child like it is a book is a great first step. The introduction of these resources really becomes visible as speech and language development grows between 18 months and 3 years. Suddenly those many months of play-based learning are visible in the conversation we begin to have with our children. They often surprise us at how much they have been soaking up! So being able to access educationally focused resources young matters. For more information on our Busy Books check them out at www.busybooksaustralia.com.au

06.01.2022 How easy is it to get caught up in the business of day to day life and miss out on the beauty of childhood and how our little ones see the world Sometimes we need a reminder, such as this quote, to help us stop for a moment and enjoy the little things with our little ones What’s something little that you’ve enjoyed today?

05.01.2022 Emotions - we experience a range of emotions throughout the day every day. As adults we have learnt how to recognize these emotions and how to emotionally regulate our feelings and emotions. Toddlers and young children also experience a range of emotions throughout the day. They however have not yet learnt what these feelings and emotions are and how to regulate them. Our emotions activities in our Colours, Shapes and Patterns Busy Book are a great starting point and talking ...point to introduce emotions to your little one. Learn more today about our Busy Books at www.busybooksaustralia.com.au

05.01.2022 Our Alphabet Numbers and Writing skills Busy Book comes with a dry erase pen to compliment the writing skills section of the book. If you have noticed your child doesn’t hold his or her pen correctly or isn’t showing any interest in following the writing skill activities yet then please do not worry! Writing and pen grip are something that will develop over time and there is so much you can do in the meantime to help nurture that pen grip and those writing skills. There is ...so much more to learning to write than just picking up a pencil and learning the ‘correct’ grip. The skill of writing starts with gross motor control (core strength and balance), it involves hand-eye coordination and memory, and it involves developing shoulder and arm muscles as well as elbow and wrist pivots. That’s a lot of fundamentals that need to be in place BEFORE children are physically able to write. Working on children’s gross and fine motor control is a great place to start before you expect them to have beautifully formed letters. Peeling off the velcro cut outs and putting them on the activities in our Busy Books are great to help with gross motor activities to develop core strength and shoulder/arm muscles in addition to other everyday activities as listed in the original post. Children need to develop the strength in their hands and fingers before they are able to comfortably hold a pen or pencil to write.

04.01.2022 Have you ever noticed that your little ones play better when they initiate play compared to when you set and introduce play to them? Well this is definitely a thing! Child led play is super important and is when the most learning is done. Children know when and what they need to learn as they grow and develop. It’s our job as parents to provide a safe, fun and challenging learning environment for them. I’ve noticed if I interrupt my toddlers when they are playing with thei...r Busy Books and say, for example, wow how fast can you do that activity? They often shut down and no longer want to play. This is because they were in a play flow! Do not interrupt these play flows unless they look to you or ask for help. Whilst in these play flows they are learning everything they need to know at that time. During these play flows they may even just abruptly stop and walk away and that’s ok, they are done, they have learnt all they need to know for that session. But they will be back when they are ready to learn those certain types of skills again. Follow our posts over the next few weeks as we look into different skills that our little ones are learning in these toddler years and how Busy Books can assist with learning these skills

03.01.2022 If you could make your own Busy Book what would you put in it? We have the concepts of a third Busy Book complete and ready for the next stage, design. We hope to have our third Busy Book printed and ready to play with in the new year. We are interested to hear what you would like to see in our future Busy Books. Please share your ideas / wish lists below or feel free to pm me or email me at [email protected]... If you love our Busy Books we would love to hear from you too!
