25.01.2022 A simple but effective social story to help our young children understand COVID-19 and support you in helping them deal with the worries they might have about it.

25.01.2022 Buddy just hanging out. Love that he chose some jocks to match his outfit

23.01.2022 The Bute Veterinary Clinic is now open, caring for all your pets needs! This ties in nicely with our book based focus and story table theme ‘Dear Zoo’ written by Rod Campbell. We have recently discussed and explored the words ‘fierce’ and ‘danger’ used to describe the lion in the story. Angus helped us come to the conclusion that danger means something that could hurt you and fierce means scary and dangerous. We then had fun drawing some other animals that are fierce and dangerous!

22.01.2022 Educators have been busy reflecting on, reviewing and updating our Philosophy this term. We hope that we have captured everything that is important to us as a community.

21.01.2022 How fabulous is our learning environment looking after an upgrade of the flooring! A timely nudge for us to take everything out and only bring back what was needed to ensure our space is not crowded or overwhelming. After an interest in Miss Dempsey’s paper mache moon found in her office and children noticing the moon in the sky during the day, a space inquiry has been set up for our children to explore this term

20.01.2022 A reminder that some very exciting work will be happening in our already beautiful learning environment over the next few weeks. New flooring will be installed throughout the centre and therefore requires some adjustments to our indoor learning space to accomodate this. Rural Care will run as usual and educators and children will adapt around the work being completed. What a wonderful learning opportunity for the children to observe the work as it unfolds! We are fortunate enough to have plenty of spaces to utilise during this time. We can’t wait to see the finished product!

20.01.2022 Next Monday the 29th of June is International Mud Day! Bute Early Learning and Primary School will be celebrating with all things MUD and we hope you can join. Special Recess 10:40 (open to those in attendance on the day) Mud milkshake $2.00... Mud Brownies $2.00 The afternoon of mud play activities is open to all Rural Care children even if Monday’s are not your day of attendance. You will of course need to come along to supervise. Please pack old clothing and footwear suitable to get messy! Make sure you pack a change of clothes for clean up after all the fun! We look forward to seeing lots of muddy happy children on the day!

19.01.2022 To continue to develop our young children’s awareness of sustainable practices, we have invested in some new bins. These bins are colour coded to match the different bins used in the Barunga West Council. We hope that the clear labels help guide our children to ensure that rubbish is disposed of in the correct bin and manner

19.01.2022 Check out who made the front cover of the YP Country Times!

18.01.2022 We introduce to you the Bute Florist and Garden Centre, where you can purchase all things garden related! We can’t wait to watch the children engage in this dramatic play area. With some beautiful spring weather we have all things gardening happening. This week we have been busy planting seeds from flowers to veggies to get ready for our summer veggie patch

17.01.2022 What a wonderful morning spent celebrating the amazing mother’s, aunties, grandma’s and other special women in our lives. A big thank you to all that could make it and joined in on the fun. Too many wonderful photos not to share! We hope you all left feeling rejuvenated, relaxed and loved. We hope you all continue to be spoilt over the weekend

16.01.2022 What a gentleman Buddy the elf is

15.01.2022 Over the last few weeks we have worked together to design, construct and decorate the Bute Early Learning space rocket which has taken many children on adventures to the moon and beyond. It was so fabulous to watch the children engage in the sustained project of constructing the rocket. The children were involved in re-purposing a box into something new and exciting! So many wonderful opportunities for learning in this one experience

15.01.2022 Due to current circumstances play group will be cancelled until further noticed. We will notify you when it will be back up and running. Thank you for your understanding.

14.01.2022 Helping and supporting our young children deal with big emotions can be challenging. We can all use some strategies to support everyone involved.

13.01.2022 What a wonderful message to share with our young children. We value each and everyone of our little cherubs and wouldn’t change them for the world

12.01.2022 It’s harvest time in this little town (a Luke Bryan reference for those country music fans) and the children at Bute Early Learning aren’t missing out. Farming is a big part of our communities culture so we’ve set up some wonderful experiences for our children to engage in. We can’t wait for them share their knowledge with us and get the jobs done this harvest!

12.01.2022 Don’t forget to register your child for preschool 2021! Pre enrolment forms can be collected from the centre and need to be returned by the end of June, which is fast approaching! See educators for a form and return ASAP.

12.01.2022 Dear Bute Early Learning Centre Families, Late Last year we successfully applied for a Community Sharing Library to provide access to beautiful, age appropriate literature and resources for all of our young people and their families. With support from Raising Literacy Australia, The Little Big Book Club and the Government of South Australia Department for Education; our Early Learning Centre has been the recipient of over 300 books and resources to promote early literacy ...and reading development. HOW LUCKY ARE WE! Many of these resources provide ideas for developing wonderful learning and developmental experiences for you and your family to do at home. We hope that you and your family love and care for these resources and ensure all of our young people and their family can continue to borrow and use these resources well into the future. All we ask is that you complete the BOOKING FORM located in the Centre near the children's information trays above their lockers, return or exchange books after a period of 2 Weeks and love the books as much as we do!

11.01.2022 Due to the current circumstances we understand that you may need to keep your child/children home from care. If you plan on doing so we ask that you let us know with a courteous phone call or text message as we may have others on the wait list for that day. Your support is greatly appreciated. Stay safe everyone.

11.01.2022 A bit of food for thought for your Thursday night

11.01.2022 We’re on the hunt for some more materials to add to our loose part play, pictures for reference and ideas. Our children have been very interested in exploring how different pipes fit together of late and we would love more pipes and fittings to add to our collection and extend on their interests. If you or anyone you know have any materials lying around suitable not being used we would love to repurpose them.

11.01.2022 Thank you to our families for continuing to receive, read and act on the continually evolving advice in relation to COVID-19. For the safety of our community an...d the wider public, the Department for Education has implemented a number of measures to support the containment of COVID-19. Schools play a vital role in assisting communities to contain the virus. We all have a responsibility to ourselves and others to stop any potential spread. Personal hygiene and hygiene standards in all schools are critical to reducing the risk. Students, staff and volunteers are asked to: avoid spreading infections to others by staying home if unwell (in-line with school’s protocol for illness in general illnesses) wash hands regularly using soap, which has been restocked and provided at school wash hands after using the toilet wash hands before eating cover a cough or sneeze with a tissue or elbow families who have been overseas must self-isolate for 14 days (see attached self-isolation chart) Ensure your family’s emergency contact details are correct at the school by phoning 08 8821 0100 or email [email protected] The National Coronavirus health Information line is 1800 020 080 and operates 24 hours a day or visit: www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-sc The Australian Government also publishes a daily alert with the latest medical advice and official reports, which can be accessed at: http://www.health.gov.au//movel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-heal

10.01.2022 From 7 Aug 2020, it will be mandatory for children attending an early childhood service to be up-to-date with vaccinations. Parents are required to provide appr...oved immunisation records upon enrolment, and at other specific ages throughout the child’s attendance at: childcare centres family day care pre-schools kindergartens early learning centres Early childhood services are also required to keep a copy of all approved immunisation records for the duration a child is enrolled in their service. Retaining immunisation records onsite will enable a faster response time during a vaccine preventable disease outbreak, and help protect vulnerable children. An approved immunisation record is a child’s immunisation history statement from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR): https://bit.ly/31tPvw9 Check the AIR to see your child’s records, and talk to your immunisation provider to ensure your child is fully immunised. 09.01.2022 What a wonderful morning spent celebrating the amazing Dads and role models in our young children’s lives with a delicious breaky An extra special thank you to those who help us with removing some over grown shrubs to help tidy up our garden. We appreciate your willingness to help, you well and truely earned those breaky rolls! We hope you continue to be celebrated over the weekend. On Mother’s Day we gifted some cookies to say thank you so it was only fair we did the same for our Father’s wo will receive theirs along with a special gift handmade by the children.

08.01.2022 Spring has sprung! And with spring comes learning about bugs, insects, flowers blooming and caring for our environment. Our silkworms have hatched from their eggs. Each year the children enjoy watching them grow and change. This year we are experimenting and feeding half with beetroot leaves to see if they spin pink silk! Yesterday we planted a heap of sunflower seeds and we can’t wait to watch these grow and bloom Our trees are blossoming, other flowers are flourishing and our garden is starting to produce some goodies for us to eat Thanks to the Bute Men’s Shed for repurposing our old cot into a day bed, it creates the perfect place on the verandah for children to share stories

08.01.2022 Our children and young people are more competent and capable then we sometimes allow them to be. Promoting independence from a young age can have so many benefits in the long run. Next time you’re dropping your child off at preschool or rural care, allow them the opportunity to unpack their bags and put lunch boxes and drink bottles into fridges and bags into lockers. Allow your child to make a choice, you would normally make for them. We all lead busy lives, so sometimes we just do things for our children because it’s easier but what is this teaching them? Slow down and let your child show you just how capable they are.

07.01.2022 IMPORTANT COVID-19 NEWS More information has been received from our Minister of Education, after clarifying details with the SA Premier. Please note the followi...ng details, but be aware, these could change again as more information comes to hand; Schools, Preschools and Child Care Centres (Rural Care) will be operational Thursday, 19th and Friday 20th for children of ESSENTIAL WORKERS only. All other children and families need to follow the latest SA Health advice and remain home. These services will run with a skeleton staff and will be providing a supervisory service and not an educational program. Monday, 23rd and Tuesday, 24th will be Pupil Free Days for the school. The Rural Care will be open and operating for ESSENTIAL WORKER families. We will provide further updates as the information comes to hand. Thank you in advance for your support and patience.

04.01.2022 How lucky are we to have such a supportive and helpful community. Once again, a huge thank you to Bute Community Men's Shed Inc for restoring our wood work bench. They have done a wonderful job, as usual, and we can’t wait to use it. We are always finding ways to repurpose and they are always willing to work with us to turn our ideas into magic. In doing so we are teaching our children about reusing and repurposing for new means. We are on the look out for some soft wood off cuts easy for children to hammer into. If you or somebody you know can help us out we would be greatly appreciate anything you have to offer

03.01.2022 Public schools, preschools and children’s centres will reopen to all students on Monday 23 November. While OSHC is able to operate as usual, families should check with their OSHC service whether it will run a service on Monday. We look forward to having children back on Monday!

02.01.2022 Register your child(ren) for Preschool in 2021 We have the most beautiful learning environment and the most wonderful educators to nurture and educate your special young person. We look forward to welcoming you to our learning community in 2021.

02.01.2022 As we excitedly await the new term that is just around the corner, a timely reminder that learning to draw and write is a process. All stages of the process are important. When we see our young children exploring mark making it is important that we value their scribble just as much as formal writing and letter formation.

02.01.2022 Look who arrived in the post! Sent all the way from the North Pole from Father Christmas. Everyone meet Buddy the Elf. We can’t wait to see what he gets up to over the next few weeks

01.01.2022 Given the current situation around COVID-19, we remind all parents and carers to please keep your children at home if they are unwell to minimise the spread of infection. Your support with this is greatly appreciated.
