24.01.2022 Hello UWA Aikido friends. Ive been doing more social media to try to increase awareness of the club, on the readily accepted belief that this can build membership. Please help. Likes, comments, shares all make this page more prominent, and improve the google results for the webpage. Theres an Instagram account, please follow it. I sure aint doing this for fun.

21.01.2022 Brett Nener sensei demonstrates ukemi. Receiving a technique in training is cooperative but doesnt involve giving up. We protect ourselves from injury and keep our structure so that we can counter if there is an opportunity. And yes, the same applies if the technique is done quickly.

20.01.2022 Photos from our first grading of the year! Congratulations Nic for getting your black belt, Brendan for getting your orange belt, Harry, Leila and Elise for getting their yellow belts!!

20.01.2022 Teppo training for shoulder strike and tenchi-nage practice. Australian eucalypts are straight and smooth, but a little hard and unyielding. I usually do 90 a side with both arm up and arm down. Any more and the shoulders get a bit too sore to hit with any power. On a bigger screen I think I can see the top of the tree moving a little. But I could be imagining it.

14.01.2022 Socialising. Do you want to have the normal "First Monday" Dinner in December? Or would you rather have a Christmas Dinner on another day of the week e.g "Lambrettas" on Wednesday; "Naked Fig" on Thursday ( BYO Night )? Either way venue suggestions are welcome.

08.01.2022 Shiho-nage demonstrated by Brett Nener Sensei. Last post he showed us how to receive the technique, heres how to do it. No need to rush, theres control from the moment he moves.

08.01.2022 We are doing some paired kenjutsu training while we cannot contact. Much more practice is needed! Brett Sensei was the first westerner to train at the Meiji JIngu Shiseikan , and learned kenjutsu there. But we have focused on taijutsu in the dojo and swung sticks at home to make the taijutsu better. Now we will use this new training to make our taijutsu better, we arent pretending to be swordsmen.

07.01.2022 Shiho-nage again. The model: Furjimori Shihan. Done slow so we can try to understand.

06.01.2022 Brett Nener sensei demonstrates ukemi. Receiving a technique in training is cooperative but doesn't involve giving up. We protect ourselves from injury and keep our structure so that we can counter if there is an opportunity. And yes, the same applies if the technique is done quickly.

01.01.2022 Tenchi-nage variations II.
