16.01.2022 This is our #wetting #auger for our #tempered #barley. The #grain is #soaked #overnight taking it from #12% to #22% #moisture. This enables us to #roll the #perfect #flake rather than #smashing it into #pieces. This #creates #less dust which is better for our #cattle thanks for the video @rosskoh

16.01.2022 At Lime Burners Whisky on Friday night. We may be biased but the whisky infused dry aged Stirling Ranges Beef was pretty good.

04.01.2022 LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT. So what have eggs got to do with transporting animals? If you keep reading we will explain. A lot of uninformed people constantly complain ...about the overloading and overcrowding of livestock on trucks. The trucks are loaded with the welfare and wellbeing of the livestock being the most important issue. So what about the eggs? There are two containers, 1 with 8 eggs with a little room between them. The other only contains 4 eggs with a lot of room between them. If you were to put these 2 containers in a car and travel across the city, the container with only 4 eggs could possibly end up with some broken where the other container has very little movement between them and a good chance that none will be broken. This theory works with livestock. As the truck moves they rock against each other and therefore don’t fall down and get trodden on by the others and injured, therefore their welfare is looked after. Sometimes an animal will go down. This can happen if they are a little weak or more often being pushed around by the bullies in the pen. Drivers will check the animals regularly during long trips to get any animals back on their feet again. Also animals of similar size are loaded together if possible. So when you see a livestock truck, take care not to stop quickly in front of the truck, abuse the driver or distract him in any way. That way he can concentrate on driving smoothly and look after the livestock. By doing silly things you can do harm to the animals. #realaussiefarms See more
