19.01.2022 MORE DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN BETTER . The high protein product is definitely not lying, it is high in protein, but it is also sharing that pedestal with added sugar. Per 100g, the timeless wheat biscuits come in with 4 times less added sugar and yeah sure 6.4g less protein but if your relying on obtaining a greater amount of your daily protein target from your morning/lunch/dinner cereal (cereal doesn't have to be a breakfast food ) and not from other plant proteins, eggs, nu...ts, dairy, lean meat, maybe we need to re-evaluate your food choices. . Aside from the macronutrients (Protein, Carbs, Fats), these cereals can be great sources of fibre and particularly for women, great sources of iron and folate. . Cereals, like these two here can be included as part of your healthy diet, providing some quality nutrients. They are not foods to be avoided if you enjoy them, however with some discretion you can ensure you are getting bang for your buck. See more
11.01.2022 REDUCING BODY FAT . Decreasing your daily energy intake for the goal of fat loss and a decrease in weight is NOT a linear process. . Your body, your organs, are trying to adapt to working off fewer calories after a long, sometimes life long, period of being consistently supplied with an abundance of energy. Its like being paid $80,000/year for your job then next thing COVID hits and your on a job seeker payment. You would struggle to adapt, it would take months to adjust, a... lot of stress would present and a new approach to utilising what little you have would have to be identified. Your body is no different when you cut the calories from it. . You will eventually see the changes your after if you are consistent and reflect/learn along the way but it will not be without its side and backward steps. . . @butwhynutritionandmovement #bankaccountforyourbody See more
11.01.2022 SUGAR & CAFFIENE . Set in a loud and crowded food court sits Joe (Sorry to any Joe or Josephine's out there), a relatively broad individual that is currently sitting outside the "healthy" weight range and leaning toward the higher end of "unhealthy". Joe is hot and after something sweet so decides to crack a can of coke.... the crowd gasps is astonishment.... . On the other side of the food court sits Hilary (I don't know any Hilary's so I'm not sorry), a woman in her ea...rly 20's that appears to be in a "healthy" weight range and enjoys wearing active wear whilst shopping for... who cares your not at the gym...Hilary is after a midday coffee hit and has just purchased a caramel mocha made from the finest African coffee beans....the crowd...hasn't taken their eyes off Joe. . What other people are doing with their food choices is none of your business, it is not your body and not your life. Hilary for all you know may enjoy going home from shopping to sit down to a bag of crack, and Joe may be so overwhelmed from being a carer for his sick mother that he doesn't make the right choices for himself all the time, but you wouldn't know that. If you have concerns for your own health and want to change your own habits, seek guidance for yourself from professionals and stop being a opionated sheep. Your body, your life, your habits, stop worrying about what Joe and Hilary are doing. See more
08.01.2022 GLUTEN . Unless you have a diagnosed intolerance to gluten and such gluten containing foods, then there is no need to avoid foods containing gluten! . In this case the gluten free product not only claims to be gluten free but also free from dairy, egg and an abundance of fat, surprise surprise, the gluten riddled pasta also boasts the same dairy, egg, fat free product but without the claims plastered on the front of packaging (may contain traces is advised however). So if ...morals and ethics determine your food choices, your still covered here. . For an extra $0.68/100g YOU are paying for a gluten free product that nutritionally is inferior to the standard pasta (lower protein and fibre content) and for what?? . For anyone that has been diagnosed with coeliac disease, food management can be a strict process and can go as far as having to have your own toaster, chopping boards or utensils in an attempt to avoid any cross contamination. For individuals who assume they have non-coeliac gluten sensitivity, the gluten still will not trigger the immune response causing damage to the lining of their small intestine and associated absorption impairment. . Be grateful that you can go out for dinner without pre planning your meals or be able to look at a platter on a Sunday afternoon and dig into what you like. Don't restrict foods just because Mary in accounts told you she lost 10kg after she cut out gluten and dairy. See more
04.01.2022 CHOCCY MILK . For the general healthy population, consuming calories in a liquid form should always be your second or supplementary option to food, even more so for growing children and adolescents. . Protein content between the two items here is very similar however the extra added sugar, nil presence of fibre and minimal fortification of vitamins and minerals makes the standard flavoured milk take a back seat to the boxy classic. Both products come in at the same price t...oo. . The weet-bix in a box have been around forever and along the way have introduced modified varieties. For a packaged shelf item they do fair quite well nutrionally and when compared to a standard flavoured milk, they definitely take the win. . As part of a broad and diverse diet kids can still enjoy choccy drinks, however with their options why not have them enjoy something that can supplement a healthy diet. See more
