25.01.2022 Bottled Australian Milk. Price is irrelevant.

25.01.2022 Does dinner take anyone else by surprise every single day? 'Whaaaat, I have to cook again?! I fed you people dinner last night' Birdseye is the only 'major...' brand who consistently uses Australian produce. They are owned by Simplot Australia, whose parent company is Simplot, an American food and agricultural company. BUT the other main brands (McCains, Heinz, Logan farm - all overseas companies as well) usually use imported produce, packed overseas. Now that's a long way to go just to get pushed off the plate by my children! McCains veggies on the left is 'Made in New Zealand' - unfortunately Made in New Zealand does not equal Grown in NZ. In fact, Made in 'insert country here' on produce is almost a guarantee that it was not grown there Some of the major supermarket brands (Woolies Select for example) are also Australian grown, so if you already buy it - GREAT! (Full disclosure, the 'essentials' supermarket brands are usually packaged overseas from multiple, yes multiple, origins...). This is an important one to continually check too. FInd the brands you trust, but when it comes to produce take a second to scan the back, as it's always changing! #maketheswap

23.01.2022 Avoid McCain Frozen Vegetables. Why do they do this??? Blame the Supermarkets .. they encourage it on a price basis.

23.01.2022 Beware .... you’re paying top dollar for rubbish product coming out of Asian .... the big Supermarkets force this on these manufacturers in the pursuit of higher and higher margin.

22.01.2022 Only buy Australian mangos!

21.01.2022 Nudie Juice is 100% Aussie oranges whereas Daily Juice Co is only 30%! Plus Nudie are doing a lot to raise awareness of the struggles of farmers after such a ...severe drought and the bushfires. COVID19 is a walk in the park for Aussie farmers We're just waiting it out for the swarm of locusts that are surely on their way See more

21.01.2022 BEWARE ..... when buying frozen vegetables .. insist on Australian. Avoid frozen ... we have the best fresh vegetables in the world.

20.01.2022 Yep, you read that correctly Ever wonder why our farmers struggle to compete with imports?! Australian farmers receive LESS government support than farmers in... nearly every other country in the world. Switzerland, China, Japan, Canada, USA, Turkey (the list goes on) all receive more government assistance and subsidies than our farmers. In fact, Australian farmers are even well BELOW the emerging economies average (so support for our farmers is lower than in countries like Brazil, Philippines and even Kazakhstan ) The government interpretation of these statistics is that (retold in my words) subsidies promote domestic agriculture and can negatively impact other countriesso we dont do it. Ummm. ok, But if were the only ones who DONT subsidise their farmers then arent our farmers the ONLY ones negatively impacted?? Why should farmers have to take the hit?! In fact, estimates suggest that support given to overseas farmers cost Australian agriculture between $8 billion to $10 billion ANNUALLY (Anderson and Valenzuela 2020; Greenville et al. 2019c). Theres a conversation starter next time you're at a party (yes, I'm a real hoot at parties ) You can read the full report here - OECD (2020), Agricultural Policy Monitoring and Evaluation 2020, OECD Publishing, Paris, https://doi.org/10.1787/928181a8-en. #maketheswap #maketheswapaustralia

19.01.2022 Seriously, this will be the EASIEST swap... EVERRRRRRRRRR!! We have somehow kept Morning Fresh (which is imported from Indonesia) as our Australian market lead...er for 30 YEARS! HUH!?! Why? Because here's what a trip to the supermarket looks like.... "Ok quick, we only have 15 minutes before KID-A needs to be at soccer training, PUT THAT BACK, what was I doing for dinner? Oh yeah, chicken pie, we need gravy, DON'T BITE INTO THOSE APPLES, where has KID-B gone?? gravy, gravy, don't forget the gravy, PUT THAT BACK, are those biscuits on special, we need dishwashing liquid, Argh we're late for soccer, grab that main one, WHO OPENED THE BISCUITS!? Which aisle is gravy in, stop swinging on the trolley! PUT THAT BACK! Remember gravy, who put these lollies in the trolley? KID-A don't take your shoes off, Ok, we're done, lets go...oh crap forgot the gravy" Did you even notice getting dishwashing liquid in that chaos? Now here's a confession I used to always buy Morning Fresh, why? Because...well, my Mum had bought it and...to be honest, I'd never actually given it any thought.. It was the main brand, so....that's what I bought But when I did swap it was a bit of an ah-ha moment (a Swappers moment? A Swappah-ha moment? Hmmm leave it with me, there's gotta be a workable one! ). Because I realised it was a superior product in every way and I had somehow, for all these years, given my money to a product imported from Indonesia just because it was at eye level . Here's why it's a no brainer swap.. Earth Choice is Australian made Earth Choice is Australian FAMILY owned Earth Choice makes all their own packaging in Australia from recycled plastics Earth Choice is an environmentally sound brand Earth Choice is cheaper (yep, as of June 2020 at Woolies, Morning Fresh was 83c per 100ml and Earth Choice was 59c per 100ml) Do I need to go on!?! If you haven't already, it's time to have your Swap-iphany (YES, Swap-iphany! Thats the one!! ) and #maketheswap Earth Choice #maketheswapaustralia #buylocal #supportlocal #australianmade #madeinaustralia #earthchoice

19.01.2022 For a population that looks wildly dishevelled (oh no, wait, that's just my children) We generate $1.3 BILLION of revenue on hair care products in Australia, ye...t NONE of our top selling brands are Australian owned NONE! I think there's enough wiggle room in $1.3 billion to share the love a bit, don't you!? Organic Care is 100% Australian family owned, 100% Australian made in Victoria, very affordable and available in supermarkets. Plus they make all their own packaging from recycled plastic Pantene is imported from Thailand and, oh yada yada yada you get the drift by now #maketheswap #maketheswapaustralia #australianmade #madeinaustralia Shampoo

I know, I know, it's pretty impres...sive Colgate is ingrained in our psyche for toothpaste, but it might be time to look around, #maketheswap and bump their shelf space down Grants is Australian owned, Australian made, found in Woolies and Coles (but may be hard to see for the 870 different colgate products on display!) and yes, has an added fluoride option if that's your jam Colgate is now imported from Thailand (some products differ and may be imported from Mexico or China). #madeinaustralia #australianmade

16.01.2022 PLEASE BUY McCains frozen Potato Chips.

14.01.2022 I DONT SUPPORT HONEY FROM CHINA! Capilano Honey was previously caught red-handed selling fake imported honey from China to Australian consumers. It has now announced they will soon be selling imported honey to Australian consumers again. No thanks, I support Tasmanian honey.

14.01.2022 I know, I know Hey, Make the Swap, why dont you just make your own stocksame reason I dont churn my own butter! Now, I have no beef with Vegeta (or whatev...er the vegetable version of having beef is..I have no onion with them? No chilli with them? Hmmm Ill find one that works). 10.01.2022 Worth a read ... and a thought about our future as a nation and the future we are creating for our children.

09.01.2022 This is why we must start making things in Australia again .... it creates wealth. Most Australians do not realize the extrenecwess as th being created in China from manufacturing ... it is obscene!

08.01.2022 Woah, Make the Swap, whats with the confusing bacon swap? I know, I know, I hear ya! But the bacon industry is a bloody minefield! I mean, bacon that is 21% Au...stralian? Come on, man! Firstly, the bar graph is more important than the brand!! (unless you already buy a locally sourced brand or a brand you are confident with then giddy up to you!!) So what is the Australian ingredients in the ones on the left?.....Water. Yep, were paying for the Australian water. Cheap bacon is imported boneless and frozen. Australian water is added and voila its now Made in Australia The problem is that pig farming has become so expensive (the cost of feed, freight, etc) that gradually our pig farmers cant compete with subsidised imports (and yes, EVERY single country that imports bacon to Australia receives subsidies from their government Australian farmers dont. Its that simple.) There are locally sourced bacon brands available (Schultes is an example in the image) so check for your area or ask your butcher. But if you are a supermarket shopper, you need to have a quick check of the bar graph or check for the Pork Australia logo. I know, I know, I was meant to make things easier for you #maketheswap #maketheswapaustralia

08.01.2022 An easy swap to make!! Golden Circle is grown overseas and US owned. Edgells have been supporting Aussie farmers and being packed by Aussie workers for over 80 years!

06.01.2022 Nothing says Wednesday morning like a nice cold beer after breakfast Haha, just kidding....I have it before breakfast Ahhh Fosters...the most famous Australi...an beer that no Australian drinks Coopers is the ONLY major Australian owned and brewed beer!!!! 90% of our beer industry is owned by two foreign companies (90%!!!!!). Yep, Carlton, Tooheys, VB, Great Northern, XXXX...all overseas owned. These beers are still Australian made and employ a lot of hard working Aussies, and before you come at me with pitchforks remember they earn billions every year, this fb post won't lose anyone their job! So #maketheswap and get a bit day drunk on Coopers today (and no, I don't get paid for this but if Coopers wants to pay me in a truckload of beer I am fiiiiiine with that!)

06.01.2022 Already used your brain too much on this wintery Monday? Well here's an easy swap! Three threes tomato sauce comes from a 5th generation Australian family owned... company with delicious recipes (yes, it's found in major supermarkets). Heinz sauce is 100% overseas grown, made and packaged. Heinz did make it's tomato sauce here for 70 years!! Until a few years ago when they bailed. Keep in mind Kraft-Heinz turns over $1.2 billion in Australia. I think they could afford to keep on the 146 workers in Victoria that were making their sauce, don't you!? #maketheswap #madeinaustralia THREE THREES CONDIMENTS

04.01.2022 Here's an easy swap for your wild Saturday night (unless you're one of the lucky ones with a signed permission note allowed to enter a pub ) Both these brands ...are subsidiaries of US companies (Heinz and Simplot, respectively). Golden Circle doesn't use Australian produce for any of its canned vegetables BUUUUT Edgells makes a consistent effort to use Australian grown and has been packing in Australia for the past 80 years A no brainer swap #maketheswap #australiangrown #madeinaustralia

04.01.2022 Demand Australian pork .... this imported pork only happens because the supermarkets demand bigger profits.

04.01.2022 Frankly ... I dont trust anything food made in Asia. These countries do not have the statutory and health regulations that Australia does. They buy our baby formulae because they themselves dont trust manufacturing in China after it was discovered that plastic was being used as a filler. Thats says it all. Send a message today ... dont buy these products. ... ..... and we are being ripped off... did they pass on the savings? No!

03.01.2022 Happy Saturday everyone! This week has been a huge one for the girls with lots of demand for their milk from both retail and wholesale. Keep up the great work ...girls!
