23.01.2022 It’s disappointing how we have let our iconic brands go offshore... we grew up with Farmers Union which is now been sucked up by Chinese dairy company Mengniu... Tag your favourite AUSTRALIAN OWNED iced coffee and share this, let’s drink our Australian Owned milks!!!
22.01.2022 Here is a great story... and you can invest in an Aussie product... Bunsters Hot Sauce has some definitely unique marketing and messaging... but maybe we just need to be ourselves... and support ourselves... Check this link below... good luck to Bunsters in raising some funds to become a bigger and better Australian company!! Watch the video... it’s amusing and a couple of minutes you won’t waste.
22.01.2022 Every now and then we all have to make decisions... I’ve put my money where my mouth is... Buy Back Australia has invested $2,500 and we look forward to seeing some new products in the mix, more outlets stocking their products and some good press about their future success. Here’s to Bunsters Hot Sauce and I am looking forward to some taste testing... the added bonus of investing $2,000 or more... ... I love the marketing behind the campaign... appeals to my sense of humour...
22.01.2022 Congratulations to Renae and her team at Bunsters Hot Sauce on Fully Subscribing their share offering. Looking forward to seeing some new products in the range, more stockists and long and successful future. Congratulations again... onwards and upwards!!!
21.01.2022 WHO OWNS OUR AUSSIE ICONS ( #12 0f 30 ) THE NATURAL CONFECTIONERY COMPANY OWNERSHIP:... Mondelz International (US) HOW DID IT HAPPEN: In 2003, The Natural Confectionery Co. was bought by Cadbury, now owned by Mondelz. WHERE IT STARTED: It is understood the brand was founded in 1992 by Melbourne company Sunrise Confectioners.
21.01.2022 In principle this is great news... but it will be interesting to see in reality how serious they are about this when the current events calm down. For all the difficulties facing Australian businesses, it’s yet to be seen the full result of current issues which will take a few years to see, the full extent is only going to be known in a couple of years when we see how many empty commercial properties there are, how many businesses have quietly shut up shop (... you won’t see ...that making headlines) and what our medium term unemployment rate is. Bringing self-sufficiency back into Australia’s economy should be top of mind for everyone, not just the politicians. Whilst this legislation affects State decisions, maybe the Federal politicians should look at themselves in the same way... For example, why are we giving $50,000,000,000 to the French to build some submarines, it’s a very similar argument as to the reliance on foreign powers... I have always thought that continually awarding multi billion dollar projects offshore instead of undertaking them onshore under our control is basically telling the entire population that you’re all too dumb and stupid to build some boats so we’ve had to get these French guys to do it... and does nothing to improve Australia. There are projects that can be undertaken as Nation Building Projects and could go towards changing the psyche of Australia and be the stake in the ground to start the rebuilding of Australia as a manufacturing country again, the decisions taken years ago that we were going to be a smart country and be a service based economy are proving to be just idealistic and in the end, an ill thought out plan... The reason I said this should be top of mind for everyone is just that, the politicians will retreat to the normal once all of this pandemic calms down and the media channels look for something else to report... the public needs to keep the pressure on until this changes and Australia First is a way of life... not just another passing fad!!!
20.01.2022 One of the standard topics that you will hear with the Buy Australian conversation is that the government needs to change this or that... We all know that our governments are not going to fix this, it’s a fair challenge to count on one hand what governments at any level have actually fixed. If you’ve noticed our Tagline, we changed it recently, we’ve moved away from just looking after ours... and have changed our Tagline to how you shop matters... which better represe...nts our objectives. When our app launches, we will be giving users timely and accurate information about the product they are looking at, right where they are making the decision, in the supermarket, in the hardware store, in the bottle shop, at the convenience store... And where there are better options available as Australian Owned or Australian Made... we will tell you so that you purchase products from companies that support Australia and Australians... The message is clear, the government won’t fix this problem, it’s up to you and your wallet to fix this problem. Remember... How You Shop Matters #HowYouShopMatters
19.01.2022 I just watched this... I don't know why Australia is not included in his video, we also have fallen for the Chinese Money Trap... scary at best!!!
19.01.2022 Can say that I was truly disappointed with the range of flavoured milks when shopping at the Romeo's Retail Group store at Athelstone. I thought that I deserved an Iced Coffee so made my way to the Flavoured Milk section, which was rather well stocked... almost as much space for Flavoured Milk as the space allocated for white milk... so much to choose from, the White Milk section is very good, all my favourite Australian Owned brands, great selection and my all time favourite..., Fleurieu Milk Company so thought this will be alright. Looking through all of the milks on offer, lots there, they must sell a bit of the stuff... couldn’t see the Fleurieu Milk that I like, had a good look, couldn’t find much Australian Owned Flavoured Milk... a bit of the Nippy's range was there... and there is one Bickford's Australia Iced Coffee on offer... but I do like the Fleurieu’s new Sugar Free and Lactose Free Iced Coffee... I asked the two lads who were stocking the fridge at the time where the Fleurieu Flavoured Milks were... they advised me that they did not stock them, said they had been asking management to range them for a long time but they cannot get them into the store... I couldn’t help myself but point out that they seem to stock so much flavoured milk... lots of flavoured milk... but pretty much all of it is owned by Chinese conglomerate Mengnui... and did they have a problem supporting Australian Owned... My opinion of Romeo’s has changed a bit now... must say for a company that has the opportunity to easily support locally owned.... very disappointing. Can’t help but wonder if they have sold the shelf space to the foreigners at the detriment of the token Australian Owned Flavoured Milks on offer...
17.01.2022 Here is a very interesting article... written recently following the purchase of Lion Dairy which saw it change hands from Japanese Owned to Chinese Owned... our Dairy Industry seems to be leading the way in being controlled by foreign companies... and some could argue... foreign governments! Here in South Australia we are lucky, we can choose from Fleurieu Milk Company, Tweedvale, South Australia, Alexandrina Cheese Company, Jersey Fresh amongst others who are all Australian... Owned and have great products... In Victoria there is Kyvalley Farms Milk There is Norco Milk with a great following... and there are others. What other Australian Owned Dairies are there in Tasmania, Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales? Are there any in Western Australia? Reply to this post with your favourite Australian Owned Dairy Company to show all the great alternatives to these foreign companies that are trying to take over our industries!!!
17.01.2022 Well... some good news on the app front... sort of... We are developing an admin app that we will use to administer and test our data, which is doing all the hard work of sorting out how we access the data to display accurately. By the end of September the data that we are compiling will have the details of approximately 500,000 companies and over 30,000,000 products.... Yes... THIRTY MILLION PRODUCTS!!! One of the items I tested that I have in my fridge is this Australian Owned Lemon Juice that I get my sister to buy for me from Costco... bit of that in Mineral Water is more refreshing and so much healthier than all that sugar that comes in a red can that I used to drink... One of the main uses of our app is to help Australians to find Australian Owned and Australian Made product as well as show you how much Australian Content the products contain... So with this I was happy to see that the Sunshine brand is Australian Owned, backed up by their statement on the label that they are A Totally Australian Owned Company... but I was a little disappointed to note that under the little map of Australia was an empty graph. Why we can’t have Australian Lemon Juice is a fair question... but as we will all see soon, we will make it easier for Australians to support Australian Owned companies, but these companies also have to do the same and support Australia and use Australian ingredients and produce. So soon you will be able to scan a product and be aided in your decision towards buying Australian products. To companies like Steric Trading Pty Ltd we will be guiding people your way, but we want to see that measure of Australian Ingredients start to go up so that we can support Australian Growers as well...
16.01.2022 I’m looking forward to the day when we can all easily play the same game by avoiding all Chinese owned companies as soon as they show up in the app... stay tuned, it’s coming soon!!!
15.01.2022 Below is a great example of a group of people getting together to make a better future for themselves... and ultimately all their future customers... Fourteen years in... well done... and going strong... well done Fleurieu Milk Company... Here’s to many, many more years...... Remember, Australian Made is one thing... But AUSTRALIAN OWNED is the HOME RUN!!!
13.01.2022 Grew up with Golden North Ice Cream and Golden North Milk... a staple in regional South Australia... Eating locally owned icecream tastes so much better than eating icecream from a Multinational conglomerate.. Keep looking for your Australian Owned alternatives... they do taste better!!
13.01.2022 It’s low I know... but it’s what I think... this should be in the marketing now... thanks Farmers Union Iced Coffee

08.01.2022 This needs to be a lesson to all of us... there is pretty much always someone better out there to do business with. If you are in business and don’t find your customer compatible with your ideals or long term goals, or if it just feels wrong, there is no rule that says that you must do business with them... sometimes it just forces you to find better customers... This is one of those times!!!
08.01.2022 Enough is Enough!!! How do we get the message across to our leaders, our elected politicians and the public service that enough is enough and that it’s time to make some tough calls... to make some tough decisions... and to take ‘ownership of the leadership that you have been entrusted with!!! Getting elected gave you the job... and your recent actions are improving your popularity... but showing leadership and setting an example for us all will get you re-elected.... Let’s look at where we are now, lets consider how we got here and lets make better decisions from now on that remove go towards removing us from the clutches of foreign governments and foreign companies... We are not looking for politicians that we may necessarily like... it should be more than a popularity contest... but we need politicians that we RESPECT... please show some leadership and show your constituents that we can make a difference, that our leaders are going to back us in... and put us first... Make decisions that earn you the respect of your nation, make us proud and show the rest of the world that Australia unashamedly acts in the interest of Australia! Send Scotty some nuts... but make sure that they are Australian Grown Nuts... not inferior imported nuts!! #ImNutsForScotty #BuyBackAustralia #JustLookingAfterOurs
07.01.2022 Well... now that we are shareholders I thought that I should seek out some of the sauce... Don’t mind a little bit of heat with my sauce... but I think I will start with the Hot Sauce (7/10) before I step up to the Shit the Bed (12/10) as well... I’m a bit woosy like that... Go Bunsters Hot Sauce!!!

05.01.2022 WHO OWNS OUR AUSSIE ICONS ( #10 0f 30 ) BERRI JUICES OWNERSHIP:... Lion, owned by Kirin (Japan) HOW DID IT HAPPEN: Berri Limited fell fully into foreign hands in 2005 when Philippines-based San Miguel Corporation acquired a remaining 49 per cent stake from privately-owned Australian company ICM Australia. In 2005, Berri Limited merged with National Foods. In 2007, San Miguel sold 100 per cent of National Foods, now Lion, to Kirin. WHERE IT STARTED: Berri juice was first produced in 1943 by five farming families in Berri, South Australia. In 1987, the original families all relinquished their directorships in the company so they could go back to concentrating on their original farms to remain the core of the fruit supply.
05.01.2022 In case anyone was thinking that foreign companies buying up our companies is good for us in any way... It is interesting that the Chinese company that bought all the Lion Dairy brands from Japanese giant Kirin even have themselves incorporated in the well known Tax Haven of the Cayman Islands... Even if they are paying some tax at the moment... their structure looks like they don’t even want to pay tax in China let alone Australia...... Do we really want to support foreign companies... what is the long term prospects for us if Australia continues to accept foreign ownership. Source: Bloomberg 25/06/2020
04.01.2022 Whilst everyone is busy just looking at and worrying about China owning too much of Australia, it is time we took off our "Rose Coloured Glasses" and admitted that too much of Australia is owned and controlled by offshore interests... As this article states... the twenty biggest companies in Australia, that by themselves make up nearly half of the Market Capitalisation of the ASX, are majority owned by foreign interests... that means control and influence with government, inc...ome from dividends and capital gains going offshore... but we only worry about China. At what point do we put our hands up and admit we have a problem and put a stop to this before we are the poor cousins... Australia, through years and years of poor leadership, has this idea that we are a wealthy country, a wealthy population... I think that we have to own up and say for a country with the resources we have had available, have believed the rhetoric that has been fed to us for too long, we have become lazy and reliant on government and all the trimmings that come with that. At the end of the day, nothing comes for free, and when we finally wake up and ask for the bill, we are going to find out there is nothing left in our wallets to pay the bar tab...
04.01.2022 WHO OWNS OUR AUSSIE ICONS ( #11 0f 30 ) COTTEE’S CORDIAL OWNERSHIP:... Asahi Lifestyle Beverages, a member of Asahi Group Holdings (Japan) HOW DID IT HAPPEN: Schweppes Australia and the brand Cottee’s was acquired by Asahi Breweries, now known as Asahi Lifestyle Beverages, in 2009. WHERE IT STARTED: Cottee’s was founded by NSW dairy farmer Spencer Cottee in the 1920s. It was sold to multinational General Foods in 1966.
02.01.2022 What is behind the removal of the numbers from the barcodes at ALDI... these do give you some assistance as to the origin of their products. It’s not a hard and fast rule, but it’s a good guide... what are they trying to do by removing the numbers from their barcodes? Our app that is currently under development doesn’t need to see the numbers, we will still be able to show you how much Australian Content and where they are made.... From our research into the companies that are behind the Brands, one of the extra bits of information we are uncovering is where companies are Incorporated and domiciled so you can see where their money ends up for tax purposes which gives you another piece of the puzzle when you are deciding which Product to Choose.
02.01.2022 Can think of worse places to go for a meeting...
01.01.2022 WHO OWNS OUR AUSSIE ICONS ( #13 0f 30 ) CARMAN’S MUESLI CEREAL OWNERSHIP:... Carman’s Fine Foods (Australia) HOW DID IT HAPPEN: It didn’t Carman’s is still a family-owned Australian business. WHERE IT STARTED: Carman’s was founded in 1992 when Carolyn Creswell bought the Melbourne homemade muesli company, she worked part-time at for $1000 at just 18 years of age.
