22.01.2022 2017 Penalty Rates Decision The long awaited, 4 yearly review of modern awards, penalty rates decision was handed down in the Fair Work Commission in Melbourne this morning. President Ian Ross, of the Fair Work Commission, announced some significant reductions to Sunday penalty rates and public holiday penalty rates under the Restaurant Industry Award 2010, the Hospitality Industry Award 2010 and the Fast Food Industry Award 2010. Further to this, President Ross also announce...d a change to the span of hours for which early morning and late night loadings will apply under the Restaurant Industry Award and Fast Food Industry Award. The changes to public holiday penalty rates will take effect on 1 July 2017 and the variation of the early/late night work loadings in the Restaurant Industry Award and Fast Food Industry Award will take effect in late March 2017. The Commission reviewed the penalty rates for Saturday in the Fast Food, Hospitality, and Restaurant Awards and determined that no changes were required How will this affect your Business and your Employees?
