22.01.2022 We've been busy at the new building in Berri - the new office walls are up, the hallway has been re-opened to allow access all the way to the rear of the building, floor coverings have been removed, and a number of new internal doorways have been cut - phew!! 22.01.2022 $10,000 Emergency Cash Grants for Small Businesses (information current as at 9th April) Small businesses and not-for-profit entities that employ South Australians who have been highly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic may be eligible to receive a $10,000 grant to support the operation of their business.... The grant is being funded from the State Government’s $650 million Jobs Rescue Package. To be eligible, businesses and not-for-profits including eligible sporting and community organisations will need to: Employ people in South Australia. Have annual turnover of more than $75,000 (GST exclusive). Have an annual payroll of less than $1.5 million, and not be entitled to a payroll tax waiver under COVID-19 support measures introduced by the South Australian Government. Have an ABN and were carrying on the operation of the business in South Australia on 1 March 2020. Have been subject to closure or highly impacted by COVID-19 related restrictions^. Apply by 1 June 2020. Use the funds to support activities related to the operation of the business. If you would like to register your interest for the grant please follow the link below. 21.01.2022 The BVMS team recently enjoyed a fantastic night out at Banrock Station for our 2017 Christmas Celebration. Our office will be closed from 1:00pm on Friday 22nd Dec and will re-open at 8:30am on Monday 8th January. 14.01.2022 BVMS Chartered Accountants is still operating amid the increased restrictions. Our office is open, however more stringent COVID-19 precautions have been put in place for visitors entering our office, and face-to-face meetings are no longer available. Our team has put further restrictions on our own work spaces and are following the social distancing and other hygiene protocols as recommended.... Cloud based software is available to us and we CAN assist you via phone (8541 0300) or email. We are working on having software available so we can share screens if we need to assist or provide training to you. Let’s all do our bit to flatten the curve and continue to look after our local community.

JOBKEEPER PAYMENT https://treasury.gov.au//Fact_sheet_Info_for_Employers_0.p... Under the JobKeeper Payment, businesses impacted by the Coronavirus, may be able to access a subsidy from the Government to continue paying their employees. Affected employers will be able to claim a fortnightly payment of $1,500 per eligible employee from 30 March 2020 for up to 6 months. 11.01.2022 Please note, updates to stimulus packages are occurring on a daily basis by both State and Federal Governments therefore the following information is accurate as at 30th March GOVERNMENT STIMULUS PACKAGE The government has announced a number of stimulus measures full details of which can be found at https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus... TAX INCENTIVES FOR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS https://treasury.gov.au//Fact_Sheet-Delivering_support_for Increase in Instant Asset Write-Off Limit The instant asset write-off threshold is increasing from $30,000 to $150,000 for businesses with aggregated annual turnover of less than $500 million until 30 June 2020. - This applies to both new and second hand assets purchased between 12th March and 30 June 2020 and be installed ready for use by 30 June 2020. - Motor Vehicle Depreciation Cost limits still apply, therefore the maximum claim for a vehicle in the 2020 FY is $57,581. - The instant asset write-off threshold is due to revert to $1,000 for small business (turnover less than $10 million) from 1 July 2020. - This write off is not a guarantee of a refund of money but a reduction in your taxable income. Backing Business Investment Introduction of accelerated initial depreciation of 50% of the cost of an eligible asset for businesses with aggregated annual turnover of less than $500 million until 30 June 2021. - Eligible Assets are new assets that can be depreciated under Division 40 of the ITAA 1997 acquired between 12th March and 30 June 2021. - Existing depreciation rules will apply to the balance of the asset’s cost.

04.01.2022 Our building project at 17 Vaughan Terrace has continued to progress over the past few weeks. We now have the framing for new glass walls installed and the gyprock walls and insulation installed. We're really happy with how the new spaces are progressing and how the adjusted floor plan feels. 03.01.2022 The next exciting stage of business development for BVMS Chartered Accountants has begun. In late 2017 we purchased a new building in Berri - 17 Vaughan Terrace (the old NAB building) - in conjunction with some other local business owners. Work is about to commence on the redevelopment of the interior of the building, and we anticipate that we'll move our Berri operations into this new building in the second half of 2018 - although our existing office located at 11 Wilson Street will continue to operate until further notice. Watch this space for updates as we swap our keyboards for tool belts (yes, seriously) over the coming months and get this project underway.

02.01.2022 Single Touch Payroll is coming From 1st July 2018, employers with 20 or more employees will need to use Singe Touch Payroll (STP) enabled software to report tax and superannuation information to the ATO, on or before your payroll day. You’ll need to conduct a head count of your employees on 1st April 2018 to see if you need to report via STP from 1st July.... 01.01.2022 GOVERNMENT STIMULUS PACKAGE Full details of the government stimulus measures can be found at https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus (information current as at 7th April) CASH FLOW ASSISTANCE FOR BUSINESSES... https://treasury.gov.au//Fact_sheet-Cash_flow_assistance_f Boosting Cash Flow for Employers Employers will receive a refund of 100% of their PAYG withholdings for March to June 2020 up to a maximum of $50,000, with an additional payment to be received equal to your initial payment (up to a maximum of $50,000) from July to October 2020. - This credit is automatically applied upon lodgement of your March BAS/IAS. - The minimum initial payment receivable is $10,000, even if you are not required to withhold tax. - To be eligible for this boost you must have been registered for PAYG withholdings on or before 12th March 2020. - The boosts will be received/ credited to your ATO account upon lodgement of your applicable Business Activity Statements during the period. - Scheming measures have been put into place by the ATO, where any sudden changes to the characterisation or nature of payments may cause them to investigate. Supporting Apprentices & Trainees Aimed at supporting small business (fewer than 20 full-time employees) to retain their apprentices and trainees. Eligible employers can apply for a wage subsidy of 50% (up to $21,000) of the apprentice/ trainee’s wages paid during the 9 month period of January to September 2020. - The subsidy is accessed after an assessment is undertaken by an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider. - If a small business is not able to retain an apprentice, the subsidy will be available to a new employer that employs that apprentice. - The apprentice or trainee must have been in training with a small business as at 1 March 2020 - Employers can register from early April 2020
