25.01.2022 Why Hong Kong's skyline is full of holes.

23.01.2022 You may be asking yourself ... should I use an Architect, or architectural services, or a draftsman, or my mate Bruce at the pub who does a bit of drawing on the side, to do my project? Unfortunately many people misuse the word Architect - there's even a mascara called Lash Architect by L'Oreal. Some will even use the word when they have no right to use it - to mislead you. However, only someone who has been admitted to the Architects Registration Board of his/her country, ca...n officially use the word Architect. Anyone can offer architectural services, but only a member of the board can offer the services of an Architect. So who should you use? If you were in need of surgery, whow would you feel comfortable to have operating on you? A surgeon, a GP, a nurse or a first-aider? You get the idea. Of all the people listed above, only one has the sufficient training and ability to provide you with the correct service, but more importantly, only one of them is a professional, with a governing body, a code of conduct and an ethical position when it comes to surgery. In essence you have protection if you use an Architect, but you do not have any protection if you use any of the others. If anything goes wrong or you feel you have not had the service you expected, with an Architect you have a route for recourse, but with the others you have nothing. As an Architect, we agree to adhere to a Code of Conduct which states that we must: Be honest and act with integrity Be competent Promote our services honestly and responsibly Be trustworthy and look after our clients’ money properly Have appropriate insurance arrangements Manage our business competently Consider the wider impact of our work Carry out our work faithfully and conscientiously Maintain the reputation of architects Deal with disputes or complaints appropriately Co-operate with regulatory requirements and investigations Have respect for others It all sounds very secret handshake society, but it is important and surely you want to take every opportunity to ensure that your investments, whether residential or commercial - regardless of scale - are in good, competent hands. So how do you check if the person you are talking to is in fact an Architect? They may tell you they are, they may even have it in their company name, or they may use words such as architectural services or architectural drawing in an attempt to mislead you. To check in Australia it is simple, go to the link below and type in their name. Type in Lummus and you'll see that our practice Director Bryn Lummus is registered. Type in L'Oreal...and you get nothing... :) #goldcoast #queensland #brisbane #realestateqld #property #realtors #sellingproperty #realestate #qld #nsw

15.01.2022 Designing The Raffles Hotel Dubai and much of the Wafi site for the Egypt loving client was undoubtedly a professional highlight for me. The added benefit being that the Raffles PR Dept do an outstanding job of 'providing' a continuous flow of publicity shots.

14.01.2022 One of the houses that is going through the office at the moment. Happy to say the clients are super pleased with this.

13.01.2022 BXL Design Architecture - Coomera's Director, Bryn Lummus is Principal Petitioner on this petition that draws the attention of the House to the need to prioritise the design and application of works to alleviate congestion at interchange 57 of the M1 motorway. It requests the House to please undertake immediate design concepts and provide adequate funding to implement upgrades. If you live locally or if your children attend school in the area, you will have experienced some of the traffic frustrations at Junction 57. Mark Boothman MP, Member for Albert and Bryn Lummus were successful in their previous 2014 petition which asked the State for the upgrade of Junction 54 - works at Junction 54 commenced on site last month.

13.01.2022 The sod-turning ceremony for the Exit 54 upgrade happened this morning - Bryn Lummus, Director of BXL Design Architecture - Coomera was the Lead Petitioner on the petition that was submitted to State in 2014. Works begin on site Sunday 9th August and construction work will be complete by the end of 2016. Many thanks to Bert van Manen MP, Mark Boothman MP, Member for Albert and Michael Crandon for their tireless work in making this happen.

07.01.2022 BXL Director Bryn Lummus and newly elected President of Sustainable Development Gold Coast draws attention to a major issue for the Gold Coast - and Queensland (tourism accommodation, investors and developers). If the changes proposed are adopted. It would roughly mean that apartment buildings must either be for owner occupiers or for short term accommodation. Not both.

07.01.2022 And here's one just handed over to the client.
