25.01.2022 Each year at the Defence Dogs Graduation Ceremony, we are reminded just how important this program is. The triple win: rescuing these beautiful dogs from the pound; rehabilitating inmates at Bathurst Correctional Centre by giving them a purpose in training and developing these assistance dogs; and, then handing them on to our veterans who are suffering from a range of medical conditions, including PTSD. 05.01.2022 Following a carefully considered review of our entry policy, we have made the decision to remove the blanket restriction on entry for residents from the Sydney area. Over the last few weeks there has been a decline and general stabilisation of COVID-19 cases in New South Wales. However, we will continue to monitor case numbers daily, and adjust our policy as we deem necessary. The excellent contact tracing work done by NSW Health has helped ensure that community transmission numbers have remained low, and we feel it is time to open our doors a little wider. We will continue to monitor the situation and ask that anyone who has visited a location or venue that has had an exposure to COVID-19 not enter the Club. 05.01.2022 On the 15th of August we will commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Pacific. This is the day the Japanese officially surrendered and marked the end of WWII for Australia. Our window display honours two of our remaining WWII veterans, Dick Crossing and Alex Bedwell. Both of these men have served their nation, our community and our sub-branch. The 15th of August is another day for us to reflect and be grateful for the sacrifices made by those who have come before us and the contribution they have made to our community. 04.01.2022 We have recently reviewed our entry restrictions and have decided to now allow entry into the Club for residents of the Blue Mountains, Albury and Wollongong. We are still regretfully asking residents from the Greater Sydney area, Victoria and Batemans Bay not to enter the Bathurst RSL Club at this time.
