17.01.2022 Rhonda’s reading, what? Gail Tully’s book guides the reader through the anatomy and physiology of the female pelvis and asks the reader to consider the role that tense and tort ligaments and muscles play in delaying the progress of physiological labor and vaginal birth. Gail informs the reader that tension and torsion of the ligaments and muscles of the pelvis results in predictable and observable changes and delay in the course of normal physiological labor and birth. ... When a delay in physiological labor is observed Gail challenges the midwife to ask Where is the baby? Remedial position changes are proposed for a baby at the pelvic inlet; the mid-pelvis and the pelvic outlet. A plethora of anecdotal evidence for the success of these techniques is offered by the author. None are harmful to a mother and her baby and are worthy of experimentation with the various position changes. An open and curious mind with a willingness to give a forward leaning inversion, for example, a go would serve a mother well if physiological labor is restored and vaginal birth achieved. I have started to integrate some of the suggested techniques into my own midwifery practice, with a degree of success. A breech baby turned cephalic and ‘dip the hip’ rotated a posterior baby, anterior. I would recommend this book to midwives, and the ‘Spinning Babies’ website to mothers to learn techniques to change birth on earth. https://www.spinningbabies.com/
