23.01.2022 The weekend is here! My Saturday morning usually starts with a trip to the market When we moved to the coast we were excited to become market people & now that's where we buy many things! From all our produce to things for organization and the occasional workshop tool. ... I've slowly found plants, pots & baskets I can use for photos and they brighten up the workshop! This plant, basket & the beeswax used to finish the edges of the Chloe Clutch are all from our local markets! 09.01.2022 Three local "Sunshine Coast Made" businesses prove you can "make local"! I had a sensational morning today catching up with three great local businesses based o...ut of Ninderry here on the Sunshine Coast and prove that it's possible to run small businesses and sell quality local made products containing locally made materials. Matt Keillor from RMK Leather Works produces an awesome range of leather made wallets, phone holders and more using traditional leathers as well as kangaroo. He has invested in technology to introduce improved manufacturing as well as laser equipment to produce their own embossing stamps personalising any leather item with just about any image including company logos. Cassie Bouchers business By CC Boutique, produces a range of ladies purses and clutch bags in a variety of leathers that would make an ideal gift for that special someone. She's also very passionate about the environment and sustainability and currently working on a range of "vegan" leather products made from cactus and pineapple leathers. Luke Berkelmans from Makesmith can do just about anything, but he specialises in manufacturing a range of high quality camping and hunting knives as well as some chef knives and accessories. He makes everything on site, including the blades, handles and sheathes made in partnership,with Matt at RMK Leather Works. We've produced three great short videos in our local business feature series that we decided to release next week over Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so look out for those. These three craftsmen and women are a sensational examples of what can be done in a highly competitive market, and stil produce a quality locally made item.
