23.01.2022 Western Australia is joining with other states and territories to deliver nationally consistent emergency information through the implementation of the Australian Warning System (AWS). The AWS is a national approach to information and warnings and aims to provide consistent warnings to Australian communities, so people know what they need to do when they see a warning level. The most important thing to know is that the colours for bushfire warnings issued on www.emergency.wa.gov.au will be changing ahead of the 2021-22 bushfire season.

22.01.2022 Please be advised that the restricted burning period will begin tomorrow, Thursday, 1 October, 2020. You can burn one 1m x 1m pile of garden waste without a permit after 6pm. You need a permit to burn grass, paddocks and bush. You can apply for a permit via your local Fire Control Officer. During the restricted period: You can only burn one pile of garden waste at a time.... Each pile must not be bigger than 1 cubic metre. Clear 3 metres around the edge of your pile for safety. Stay and attend to your burn until it is extinguished. Ensure you have an adequate water supply. You can’t burn on Sundays and Public Holidays. Don’t use accelerants. The burn must be lit after 6pm. You can add waste to your burn until 11pm (can’t exceed 1 cubic metre at a time). The burn needs to be completely out before midnight. Be a good neighbour and let the people living near you know before you burn. Only burn dry garden waste from your land, no building materials, household goods, plastic, pallets or cardboard. We encourage you to register your burn by calling DFES’ Communications Centre on 9395 9209 prior to the ignition of your burn. For more information visit >> https://bit.ly/2GeFBqb See more

We are reminding landowners to Burn SMART if you are conducting planned burns around your property. For further information regarding restrictions and Fire Danger Ratings please visit: https://bit.ly/2YmsWX7 YOU are responsible for any burns on your property and must take care to recognise and manage risks. We encourage you to register your burn by calling DFES’ Communications Centre on 9395 9209 prior to the ignition of your burn. You can use the Burn SMART Guide and Checklist before, during and after your burn to help ensure you Burn SMART. The checklist and guide can be downloaded from: www.dfes.wa.gov.au/plannedburning Bushfires happen every summer and it's important to think about your preparedness plan now before the next bushfire season is upon us.
