22.01.2022 Mandevilla "Agathe Scarlet" Mandevillas or Dipladenias (Mandevilla spp.) are very popular easy-care flowering climbers! They are loved for their long lasting flowers and flowering period with their deep red, pink, white and yellow flowers. Their easy-care nature and drought hardiness make them perfect for container gardens and pots. A delicate vine with symmetrical foliage will wrap around the nearest climbing structure and produce an abundance of deep red, wide flowers with ...a deep center. Full Sun Mandevillas don’t like getting wet feet so avoid overwatering. Ensure that you provide the plant with plenty of sturdy support to grow on. Some mandevillas are often also referred to as diplandenias. These plants are considered to be forms of M. sanderii. For the cooler climates try growing M. laxa. This deciduous variety produces fragrant summer flowers and can tolerate frosts down to -6C. If it is damaged by the cold, cut back completely and it will re-shoot from the base. Wear gloves when pruning to protect your skin from the milky sap. See more
21.01.2022 Dianthus come in the new larger punnet sizes of 6 and 10. The individual punnet is alot larger thn the usual small 6 seedlings. The plant will establish alot faster. Dianthus flowers (Dianthus spp.) are also called pinks. They belong to a family of plants which includes carnations and are characterized by the spicy fragrance the blooms emit. Dianthus plants may be found as a hardy annual, biennial or perennial and most often used in borders or potted displays. A quick tu...torial on how to grow dianthus reveals the ease of care and versatility of this attractive flowering plant. The dianthus plant is also called Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus) and has a fragrance with cinnamon or clove notes. The plants are small and usually between 6 and 18 inches (15-46 cm.) tall. Dianthus flowers are most often in pink, salmon, red and white hues. The foliage is slender and sparsely spread on thick stems. Dianthus had a short blooming season until 1971, when a breeder learned how to grow forms that did not set seed and, therefore, had a prolonged their bloom period. Modern varieties will typically bloom from May to October. Plant pinks in full sun, partial shade or anywhere they will receive at least 6 hours of sun. The plants need fertile, well-drained soil that is alkaline. Instructions on how to care for dianthus are very straightforward. Water the plants when dry and apply fertilizer every six to eight weeks. You may also work a slow-release fertilizer into the soil at planting, which will release you from the need to feed the plants. Some varieties of dianthus are self-sowing, so deadheading is extremely important to reduce volunteer plants and to encourage additional blooming.

It is attractive and compact, and is good for street plantings, for screening, or a specimen plant. This is a low maintenance plant. Darlene has a great eye for colour... which is why we call her the 'Colour Queen"!!! In the few years I have been in the sewing room,... Darlene's confidence, sewing ability and knowledge has excelled. And she is a perfectionist with her sewing!! Darlene is always willing to help others choose colours, guiding them, sharing her knowledge...and wanting to learn and extend her own sewing skills. Once I asked the team.....
