25.01.2022 Congrats to our boys for winning the football match vs Lexis English School. Thank you guys for defending BBELS’s honour on the field #bbels

24.01.2022 It's our last day of an incredible odyssey that was the Byron Bay English language school - BBELS. From 1998 onwards, with no idea on nor experience in how to run a language school, we toiled with pleasure to create a wonderful educational institution that touched so many adventurous students from across the world - young and old alike. Our motivation was love (should you know our story) combined with the desire to show international people how a naturally beautiful location ...(Byron Bay) combined with quality education can enhance the human experience. We're moving on with glowing memories. I've never really concerned myself with the notion of a future as I believe we only have each day to create one. The BBELS motto is "Learn to Live" and I suggest it's an eternal one. We have to keep learning in order to live - especially now. So I'll keep learning. I intend to resume and amplify my musical journey to propagate ideas that may assist. Once again, thank you to everyone that was part of the BBELS story. Long may it endure as a beautiful one. 23.01.2022 Good luck to Romano, Julie, Boris and Sophie, our Cambridge CPE students taking their exam this weekend We wish you all the best

22.01.2022 Today at BBELS we allowed our Cambridge class to enjoy some face to face time with their teacher Kat. It's their last week of studies. They are all very brave to have stayed in Byron Bay. They're back for the last class on Friday.

22.01.2022 The Byron Bay English Language School has been monitoring the advice from the Australian Government Department of Health in relation to COVID-19. Since the outbreak, the health and well-being of our students and staff has been our main priority. Since Tuesday 24th March we are delivering our lessons to students online. Classes will be assessed at the end of this week. More soon.... Stay well and strong!... Learn To Live

22.01.2022 Farewell to Masa from Japan. Such a positive person - and he taught me which side of the phone to look at in selfie mode - after this photo. Learn to Live!

19.01.2022 The joy of Friday graduation and friendship - holding strong at BBELS in Byron Bay. More than ever, we must Learn to Live!

18.01.2022 So many of our students are sharing their past BBELS experiences. This photo of a student house party in 2012 at Beachcomber got Maimo from Taiwan a free BBELS T-shirt - on it's way to Taiwan. Were you at the party? So give us your best memories while you can. We have quite a few T-shirts and drink bottles to give away. Everyone wins!!

15.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of BBELS. Thank you to all of our friends, staff and students. It's been wonderful 22 years for BBELS - so many great memories, so many special students. We hope you are all well and also adapting to a new way for your own well being in our troubled world.... We only hope we will meet again. Till then: Learn To Live BBELS Management

15.01.2022 We're happy to announce that BBELS will open for face to face classes on Tuesday June 9th - not Monday June 8th. All students are welcome to resume their courses. Our students who have been studying over the last 8 weeks had some "warm up" classes at school yesterday and today. Teachers reported a sense of optimism and excitement during these classes. If you have deferred your course, are still in Australia and intend to rejoin the school, please email [email protected] to c...onfirm your intentions. Learn to Live!

08.01.2022 A big hello to all of our past and present students and partners worldwide. Australia is cautiously lifting restrictions and we are hopeful that our borders will open in the months ahead. The virus seems to be unpredictable and thus we remain also cautious and realistic!! The BBELS school building is very quiet. Our brave remaining students are studying online with Kat, Jay Dea, Lel and Julia. Big thanks to our teachers for their dedication to assisting our students. I found ...this old photo to share with you - the old road to the lighthouse, which I hope most of you walked during your time at BBELS and in Byron Bay. The right side of the road looks down to Wategoes. Surfing has been amazing in the last month - definitely a positive in these troubling times. Please stay safe and well. Keep learning!

08.01.2022 Good Luck to all our students today for their Cambridge Speaking Exam Yeew

07.01.2022 Fantastic to welcome our students back for face-to-face classes today! As a welcome-back gift we're providing all students with a free BBELS t-shirt. See Reuben at the activities desk after school tomorrow. Any students who have recently graduated are also welcome

01.01.2022 Dear BBELS students, partners and families, We are experiencing an unprecedented situation in Australia and around the world regarding the virus COVID-19. The BBELS management team would like to assure you that we are monitoring the developments and continually upgrading the existing measures in place as outlined by the Australian government guidelines.... Over the last 2 weeks we have implemented the following measures for staff and students: consistent messaging of the importance of personal hygiene and cough/ sneeze etiquette placement of sanitizers around the school and encouraging students to use them as often as possible asking students and staff who feel unwell to stay at home and inform us airing of classrooms in every class break and daily disinfecting of surfaces With the government’s new 2-week self-isolation requirement for all arrivals into Australia from yesterday, we expect many new students will either postpone or cancel their studies. We have no new arrivals this weekend. We continue to communicate with students, staff and families as things develop. Finally, we are happy to tell you that everyone at school today is well. There is uncertainty and anxiety resulting from this situation, but Byron Bay offers low population density, fresh sea air and open spaces. We will continue to care for our students. Please look after yourselves. Should you or your students have any concerns or questions we are happy to hear from you. Please contact us on the numbers below. School hours 8.30am 4.30pm: 02 / 6680 8253 Keep well! Michael & Alena O’Grady Directors
