25.01.2022 Dried chamomile flowers in the grinder. This is a top herb for me. It is powerful and it is gentle which may seem contradictory to some. I use chamomile for reflux and heartburn patients and for inflammation in the stomach. The gentle bitterness can improve digestive function too. . . . .... . . #byronherbalist #homegrownmedicine #herbalmedicine #guthealth #digestion #heartburn See more

23.01.2022 So excited to add guava tincture to the arsenal. This herb is full of tannins, and although it is widely ignored by most herbalists and naturopaths, is a potent and selective antimicrobial. I am starting to use guava in challenging SIBO cases and with infections and overgrowths in the large bowel too. Can't wait to harvest from my tree once it gets big enough!

22.01.2022 IBS can be a tricky digestive disorder to treat but there is one herb that I use almost every time. Peppermint has a stack of research behind it and can help with gut cramping, abdominal pain and even bloating. Combine that with caraway seed and we have a powerful 2 herb combo for IBS symptoms. Next step, get to the root cause of why the symptoms are there! Check out more in the article below

19.01.2022 Lavender, motherwort and tulsi photo bombing in the background. A calming and supportive triplet helpful for anxiety with heart palpitations and low immune function. My favourite bee (the blue banded bee ) loves these purple flowers too! . .... . . #homegrown #homegrownmedicine #byronherbalist #herbalmedicine #herbalist See more

18.01.2022 Echinacea purpurea - or the purple cone flower. This herb gets tons of play and is well known by most. In the clinic we combine it with it’s sibling echinacea angustifolia for a double whammy. An immune tonic, immunomodulator and lymphatic, this particular herb is great for more conditions than I can list here. Plus it looks beautiful in the garden . .... . #herbalhealing #herbalmedicine #herb #homegrownmedicine #byronherbalist See more

16.01.2022 Straight from the garden as fresh as it gets!

10.01.2022 I find it odd how this furry guy insists on joining me in the infrared sauna. I've been lacking that extra bit of energy that I normally take for granted so have stepped up the saunas, added some B vitamins in and also some of my favourite adaptogenic and adrenal herbs. Already feeling better

09.01.2022 Thankfully I don't often see Campylobacter infections in the clinic but when I do herbs, probiotics and prebiotics are the mainstay of my treatment approach. New article up on which herbs help best!

09.01.2022 Updated The Complete Guide to SIBO Ebook. Check the link for a free download. Surprisingly to me small intestinal bacterial overgrowth is the main condition I treat. In most patients we get good results within a few months but in a few cases it can be quite stubborn (I'm talking to you methane SIBO!). I think it is important to talk about openly and honestly. I use approaches that help the majority of my patients, when things get tricky there are always half a dozen other approaches to trial.

07.01.2022 Harvesting tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum) on a Saturday morning. Next step carefully wash the leaves, blend them in 90% ethanol and let the maceration process happen. Fresh tulsi plant tincture is incredibly warming, full of all the beautiful essential oils including eugenol a potent antimicrobial. #byronherbalist #homegrownmedicine #herbalists #herbalmedicine #sibo
