14.01.2022 Are you getting calls from Google Ads offering a free 'account health check'? These calls are becoming more and more frequent, and if your contact details are in the Google Ads account they may be contacting you. These Google sales people are ruthless and seem to try to overwhelm users with jargon while encouraging businesses to change settings that reduce targeting and increase spend.... Remember Google's goal is to make money off advertisers, and sure increasing bids and adding broader keywords will get you more traffic, but if that traffic is crappy you're going to spend alot of money without seeing improvements. Google will tell you that improvements are increased clicks, or increased click through rate, but I often see that the ads are getting clicked on more because they are misleading, and the clicks are going up because bidding is reaching an audience that the business doesn't provide products or services for. So what can you do? My first advice is to not panic! Remember these are sales people and your business goals are not their priority. Then ask them to put the information they are telling you into an email. I do not accept calls from Google because I always end up in an argument with them. But if the changes are laid out in an email I can easily explain if they are good suggestions or not. At least 95% are always money making tactics. Thirdly if you have a genuine question about your account don't expect to get an answer from these people. They are reading from scripts and have very little Google Ads knowledge. They will sometimes tell you they'll get a specialist to call you back, but usually this is a lie. Remember when Google's motto was 'Don't be evil'... hmm
