22.01.2022 Today our lovely parcel delivery lady Sherry comes and I’m waiting on yet another paint delivery. The box was too small for my paint order but I had no clue what was in the package (hopefully on Monday paint will turn up). Desi and I were intrigued and like kids on Christmas morning tearing the box open and both stood there wondering where this gift came from as there was no note or return address. After 10-15 minutes or so I said to Desi there is only one person that knows about Poeme and so I sent her a message and BINGO I was right. Remember the signs I painted up for one of our Mackay clients last week, well Michelle Channon thank you so very much. I love love love my surprise gift, but so not necessary you naughty girl. Thank you again beautiful lady.

18.01.2022 Anyone know of anyone looking for a a job in the cabinet making business please contact Mal Burgess on 0427626174. This position is based at Capella Queensland.

18.01.2022 Another upcycled project finished. When our client finds a architectural treasure that holds so much sentimental values to them and their family and knows it can become something different and useful (they’d already seen a steel frame table that our son had made for his new home in the workshop on one of her many visits). So we welded up a metal frame high table and added the vintage door as the table top (keeping the knob intact). Then our client found mixed matched timber stools and asked for them to be painted in Annie Sloan Pure and gloss lacquer to finished of to go with her high timber bar table.

15.01.2022 Happy Sunday all and Happy Father’s Day guys

15.01.2022 Hi everyone, unfortunately we will be closed again this week in both the studio and the workshop as the insurance repairers are still not finished onsite and all our buildings are a construction site. I am so sorry for any inconvenience. If you need anything please feel free to message me and I will do my best to help you out. Fingers crossed We will be back open on next week from 10:00am-4:00pm. Keep smiling and stay safe until we meet again. Cheers Jennylee

14.01.2022 That old family home door has some stories to tell but none as exciting as her rescue by her great grand daughter and her new chapter in life given by us here at By two rusty old nails. It now is a one of kind unique hall stand with built in shoe box. We found grandpa’s handwriting on the back of the door and have preserved this for generations to come and Bobbie-jo wanted to keep it as original as possible so we kept all the old hardware on it , ... Desi made the box and I worked my magic giving her a Audrey Hepburn shimmer with Annie Sloan chalk paint and Annie Sloan lacquer. See more

14.01.2022 Just a little update to let you all know we are travelling well. We made it to Broome two days ago and we are loving every minute of our trip to date. Keep smiling and we will see you all again I. The new year.

12.01.2022 2020 Father’s Day is so different then any other that we have experienced before. Come the 6th September and many of us will not be able to visit or see in person our wonderful dads due to COVID-19 lock downs, distance, boarder restrictions etc, which is sad for us all. I was lucky to be able to see my dad last week and glad I made the trip to FNQ and being able to give my dad Jack his Father’s Day gift in person. Love you dad. Here in our studio we do have some nice items... to suit dads so pop in for a browse as you never know what you might find. Stay safe everyone Please note- Photo sourced from the internet.

09.01.2022 A different kind of wood work today. An advanced paperbark down the creek didn’t make it through this blasted wind we’ve had all week.

09.01.2022 Turning a vintage pram into a mobile grazing table/candy buffet/nacho cart or anything you want it to be. #vintageinspired #yeppoon #upcycling #upcyclingideas #makingoldthingsnew #mobilevintagefoodcarts #bytworustyoldnails #forhire

07.01.2022 A little DIY project we all can tackle

07.01.2022 Wishing you all a safe masked up Easter.

06.01.2022 Well I am at a loss as to why none of my posts with photos attached will not post to the public???? If anyone has any ideas please let me know

05.01.2022 Okay so I’ve broken all rules this week, with no entering a construction site . Pfffft No tradies showed up until today (Thursday) so as I’m not one for waiting for paint to dry I crossed the line and went back into the workshop creating. No photos yet to show but soon I promise. I can show a sneak peak of today’s project though. What will it be??? No Bobby-Jo you are not allowed to say.

05.01.2022 Sometimes we are tasked to make up some wacky things for some wacky clients . Our Mackay clients John & Michelle Channon want to make a sign post on their new beach block. They are originally from Craigens Cumnock Scotland and now call CQ home. Once erected they will add the km makings. Thanks lovelies for asking us to do this fun project. Loved the change in pace.

05.01.2022 Not to scare any of you away but this week is just C R A Z I E R then the last several. We still have 6 old metal stools to do up for a family member. We have a vintage door to turn into a bar table for a client and paint 6 stools, we have a door to repurpose for a client. Desi is still doing those ongoing renos and is nearing the end to this last project he is working on. We have insurance tradies and our tradies coming and going doing stuff before the major repairs start in a couple of weeks from the hail damage we sustained in April. People coming into the studio and the phone going. Pewwwww I’m tired and I need a break. Haven’t had one day off since Covid-19 started.

05.01.2022 Stay tuned to see what this client wanted her mums old family home door repurposed into, leaving the door as original as possible.

04.01.2022 I haven’t been ghosting my page, but truely have not had time to do all that I should. Desi and I are gearing up to head around Australia at the end of the month so things have been in overdrive here so we can go away until Christmas. Anyway here’s a peek at this weeks commission jobs and a few others I’ve squeezed in for the studio.

04.01.2022 This weeks colour palettes I’ve been using in the workshop. Update on construction site. My studio is completely finished yah and the workshop is finished except for my new doors which I’m promised will be here by the end of the month.

04.01.2022 Sorry for the late notice but we are closed until further notice. We lost our mum today

03.01.2022 Closed 21st to the 25th as we need to recharge for our own health. See you all when we return refreshed and rearing to go again. Stay safe people cheers Desi and Jennylee

03.01.2022 Things come into the workshop and they ooze potential, charm and character but sadly many of them come in damaged, due to age more so then care. So I remove the botched repair jobs that previous owners have done using chipboard and somethings you just wouldn’t believe they’ve used to bandaid the broken pieces. I deconstruct the piece and then replace broken bits with solid timber etc before reconstruction and then we begin the process of making it beautiful again. In the first 2 photos below you can see where a piece of board was mended with chip board, metal screws instead of timber screws (this is what we call bandaids in our workshop). The last 2 photos show the finished product

02.01.2022 Let’s try again. Arggghhhh god I love Facebook (not). Commission piece for sweet Krystal who organised to have her mums roll top desk refurbished for her wedding anniversary. How nice is that? Transformed from drab to fab using Annie Sloan chalk paint in Antoinette and full Annie Sloan clear wax to finish off.

01.01.2022 Sneak peak of today’s projects with lots of metal work happening in the studio today for 2 commission pieces we are working on

01.01.2022 How upcycled things are transformed in our studio. 1. It starts with a clients idea. 2. Quickly followed by the question. Can it be done? 3. ‘Yes of course’ or ‘leave it with me a few days to work it out’. 4. I sketch it onto paper and plan out the work scope before going back to the client to ensure we are all in the same page before commencing work. ... 5. All pieces are tested for lead paint before proceeding any work. 6. Work begins and sometimes yes I outsource jobs (like stained glass, etc) that are too grand for even my mind or Desi and my abilities even though we are Jack and Jills of all trades (we will have a go at most things). 7. We create stunning pieces of furniture that makes our client hearts sing. Today’s picture will show how items can be transformed into stunning upcycled pieces of furniture that will be around for many many more years to come, reducing our landfill.
