09.01.2022 Relevant message from Emily this morning- The power of sin is broken! Romans 6 is an after shot- Once we’ve received Christ and are free from the power of sin Physically the more we eat the less hungry you become. Spiritually the more you eat the more hungry you become.... Emily used an illustration of a jug filled with ping pong balls. The jug represents us, the ping pong balls represent sin, the water represent the Holy Spirit. When it is half filled with water it represents when we are luke warm. To others, the only thing that would stand out is the orange, this sin would be most prominent Romans 6:12 Don’t let sin control the way you live How do we do this? 2 Peter 1:3 tells us He has given us everything we need. We have received this from coming to know Him Romans 6:14 says sin is no longer your master! Once the vessel is filled with water, when sin comes back it can only stay on the surface, it can no longer take root in your life How do we stay filled? Consistency pays off! Even when we are tired, or think it’ll be fine just this once. When we know God. When we know His voice. When we have a consistent relationship with Him- we stay filled with Him! The power of sin is broken but we need to be consistent in our relationship with God It will not feel like such an effort if we make it our norm to spend time with Him! Romans 6:23 the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life
