23.01.2022 Cabarita Beach is always changing, especially now as new cafes & food options are becoming very popular. Last Saturday it was the last day for Greg @ Cabarita Meats our next door neighbour in business. Greg has worked in this shop since 1984 as an 18 year old! In 2008 he purchased the business that he has owned for the last 12 years. That’s 36 years! Along with his side kick Paul they have supplied awesome fresh products for many years. We all wish Greg & Paul our best wishes & good luck in their next direction in life. Greg says he will take a break for a while which he well deserves. The rumour is there’s a new beer wine & tapas bar coming very soon! If we’re not in the shop we will be next door.

22.01.2022 There’s some tough climbs around this area & then there’s the climb up to the QLD border gates (which are closed atm) Its a 5 km climb with 25% inclines...so my 35/33 combo on my Specialized Venge Pro made life a little easier! 21.01.2022 Long time no see & a surprise visit by an old friend on the weekend. Almost 16 years to be exact! She had just ridden from Sydney to Tweed Heads. Rochelle Gilmore is one of the smoothest peddling female cyclists Australia has seen. A very fast track rider at international level & at her peak Rochelle won the 2010 Commonwealth Games Road Race in Delhi, India. After retirement in 2015 after a very successful career, she spends most of her time involved in womens cycling in Europe & also commentating on major cycling events. 18.01.2022 What a pleasure to guide these girls & guys from Soulfit Adventures Cycling & Yoga around the Tweed Valley for the last 3 days! Lots of fun & laughs with great people. Coffee & food from local coffee stops along the way which was enjoyed by all. Plenty of photos & tired legs after 220 kms (even me )& new friendships for us all to take home. Thanks to Virginia for the opportunity to guide them for 3 days.

16.01.2022 I’ve lost count of how many laps I’ve done of Nerang Velodrome since I moved here in 1994, literally tens of thousands I’d say. But the Wednesday night motor paced 100 lapper is still the favourite night of the week. At almost 52 years old I’ve ridden fixed wheel bikes for 42 years on road & track in NZ-Aust-& overseas on all kinds of tracks & it’s still the best way to improve speed, cadence & bike handling skills. #fixedwheel #trackcycling #nerangvelodrome

13.01.2022 A few years back I joined Michael Rønning & Karla Rønnings MTBike riding group - Liv Nerang MTB (Giant Nerang). With Karla being such a great ambassador for us... women and LIV Nerang, I was so lucky to have met the most amazing women and was very fortunate to form amazing friendships with some of the craziest, ambitious, funniest, compassionate, competitive Ladies and Gentlemen over the years. I still wear my LIV NERANG Jersey to this day very proudly to represent the fantastic humans behind it. Lately due to our own two very busy bike shops and with the Covid-thingy that is happening my time on a Mountain Bike with the LIV Ladies was very limited to none. However, yesterday everything fell in place and I was able to join them again and oh boy and OMG did I miss them. It was worth every second getting up at 4am! It is a dream of ours to build a group like this for riders here in Murwillumbah and surroundings. Just before the Covid we started little shop rides and they went really well. So watch this space as we soon will announce our next beginners MTBike ride!

12.01.2022 I had the pleasure of being the Tour Guide today. Day 1 of 3 & 100kms with almost 1000 metres of climbing to go with it! Thanks to Virginia Soulfit Adventures Cycling & Yoga Adventures for the opportunity to take these girls & guys from as far away as Newcastle & some from Brisbane on an awesome loop of the Tweed Valley over the Burringbar range, stopping Tweed Valley Whey Farmhouse Cheeses for great coffee & then lunch Tropical Fruit World. A couple of flats & a shoe sole coming off kept things amusing as always....which I managed to fix with a rubber band & gaffer tape McGyver style . There will be some tired legs tonight I’m sure! Looking forward to Saturday’s day 2 Tyalgum loop from Murwillumbah & day 3 on Sunday!

10.01.2022 Its not every day ex-pros drop into the shop, but when they do a photo is compulsory. Olympic Gold medal in Sydney 2000 for Scott McGrory when he partnered Brett Aitken to victory. A talented all rounder Scott became one of the best 6 day track riders of his generation. Pro road teams included Gerolsteiner & Mapei. These days Scott is involved in the media side of cycling, commentating on 6 day track events, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Olympics & Tour de France. Cool guy with stories all day if time allowed. At the end of our chat he camly informed me that some of my local Strava Koms were no longer mine.
