12.01.2022 Severe thunderstorms north of Brisbane overnight have flooded homes and businesses, bringing more than 100 millimetres in some parts of Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast. The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe storm warning just after midnight, after the storms developed along a trough that moved gradually north. "We had widespread rainfalls of 50 to 100mm from Redcliffe to Noosa. Caboolture was one of those places to bear the brunt of the activity with falls of around 100mm falling in about an hour or two."

12.01.2022 We are located right across the road if anyone attending is looking for accommodation. Should be a fantastic event, the paintings are truly top quality work.

09.01.2022 We are throwing back this Thursday Did you know that in 1962, the resident population on Bribie Island was less than 600 people?! Though not heavily populated..., many people came to the island for weekends and holidays! Steamship excursions from Brisbane to Bribie had carried thousands of people for weekends and holidays but eventually stopped in 1953. A car ferry service had become popular since 1947, after the military built a road from Caboolture in WW2 and motor car ownership increased. Politicians talked about building a bridge to Bribie during election campaigns in the late 1950's. In 1961, a contract was awarded for a bridge to be constructed at a cost of 358,000 pounds. The Bridge was opened by Premier Frank Nicklin on 19th October 1963 and was the longest precast pre-stressed concrete bridge in Australia! The complex construction has involved driving 206 piles, weighing 12 ton each, laying 38 spans of concrete beams to span the 832-metre length. 56 years later, the iconic Bribie Island Bridge still provides easy access to the incredible island on our doorstep

04.01.2022 A wonderful piece on the only surviving garment of Elizabeth I. The preserved colour on the protected backing of the dress and the 1,000+ hours of conservation efforts is a warming reminder of the stories and conservation of our own collection.

03.01.2022 Do you or have you ever used this word? The Village has a 'Furphy' water tank on display just behind our main reception building.
