22.01.2022 The Pelican children had a lovely Multicultural day last Thursday. They flew as a Pelican squadron to Brazil, Peru, New Zealand and Thailand and entered each country using their passports. There were many different foods to try, crafts to make and lots of new facts to learn about each country. The children all sang the song Your hand in my hand, together with the whole school. Everyone has had a lovely fun filled day! Read more at https://www.cms.qld.edu.au/pelicans-class/ #montessori #caboolturemontessori #montessorischools #moretonbayregion #caboolture

21.01.2022 We celebrate the parents that attended our Journey & Discovery workshop recently. You shared in the Montessori philosophy and methodology by becoming the child and working with the unique materials your children use daily. The Journey & Discovery program is the best way to experience what you hear your children say, what the school espouses and what the books explain. Your evaluation of the program demonstrates your enjoyment of the process. Thank you for your positive comments and suggestions. Our next Journey and Discovery workshop takes place on August 20-21. #caboolturemontessorischool #montessori

20.01.2022 We learnt some games during PE lessons for NAIDOC week - diyari koolchee (trying to knock over a skittle by rebounding the ball off a wall), kai wed (hitting a ball to keep off the ground) and barambah gimbe (throwing a ball as high as possible and then catching it in a team). 20.01.2022 This term is flying by. Our Sea Stars have been busy working in all the areas of the classroom. Since we welcomed two new Balloon Molly fish into our classroom, the parts of the fish puzzle has been very popular. We are currently creating a class graph, to survey the class and find the most popular name for our new fish. Thank you to the parents who attended Journey and Discovery over the weekend, our students enjoyed helping clean and tidy our classroom in preparation for the parent walk through. Well done Sea Stars! More photos on the Sea Stars web page: http://ow.ly/1oO050DZIbx #montessorikids #caboolturemontessorischool

14.01.2022 Mel is honoured to announce the Sea Lions’ Science Fair was a great success at Caboolture Montessori School!! Each child worked incredibly hard to make our first Science Fair amazing! The children selected the experiments they wished to conduct for the Science Fair and prepared for their presentation to either a small group or the whole class. Children were investigating chemical reactions as they made fizzy rockets, model volcanoes, lava lamps and salt crystals. Children w...ere showcasing how to blow bubbles inside of bubbles, how to bounce eggs and how to make seashell fossils and matchbox guitars. Children were conducting eye tricks and presenting magnetic properties with a twist. Children were investigating chromatography as they separated colours in felt pens and they were sharing their knowledge of liquids and solids as they made corny goo and ice glaciers. The students in the Sea Lions class all looked and acted the part as they shared their scientific knowledge and understanding with each other. I would like to commend every little Scientist in the Sea Lions class for their contribution to our Science Fair. Their engagement and enthusiasm was contagious! I look forward to making this an annual event! Hopefully next year we will be able to have families into the classroom to witness this spectacular event! Congratulations to all of the Sea Lion Scientists! You all did a truly amazing job! I would also like to thank all the parents who donated materials to the class for this wonderful event. A huge shout out to Cindy the class representative, for gathering the majority of items needed to make our Science Fair a huge success. 12.01.2022 The Caboolture Montessori School 1C Pelican class went on another adventure to follow the indigenous ARt tRAIL through the school. They learnt about the remote Aboriginal communities found throughout Australia and how they produced their art. The children found the art works interesting and this encouraged them to try their hand at making their own interpretation of the art they had seen. They spent time thinking about what they were drawing and the story attached to their... drawings. The Pelican students showed respect and diligence throughout their ARt tRAIL. Thank you Sandra Conte for giving us this opportunity to see such lovely art works outside of a museum. It was really appreciated! 11.01.2022 The Sea Turtles have been busy at work this term at Caboolture Montessori School. Three Part Cards have been popular, particularly our new diggers set! Creating a globe using our continent map has been a favourite. It involves tracing each continent, outlining, colouring, labelling, painting the ocean and then filling with shredded paper to create a globe. Lots of language and math work has been happening. The children are so excited about learning their numbers and sounds...! Making a snack is part of the daily life of a Sea Turtle. Banana slicing, cracker spreading, orange juicing and apple cutting are available on our shelf. 09.01.2022 Finding the right school for your child is a real challenge for parents. One size definitely ‘does not fit all’. When children are engaged, empowered to choose their mode of learning and given responsibilities, they then perform highly and ARE HAPPY. In her latest blog, Yvonne talks about how the Montessori method can help your child achieve through an individualised program. 07.01.2022 The Pelican children at Caboolture Montessori School made their fathers a drinks coaster with mosaics and they did a questionnaire about all their fathers favourite things. 04.01.2022 A Strong Thread - by Yvonne Rinaldi Principal of Caboolture Montessori School When does learning start? When does an educational environment start? We all start learning from before birth, initially subconsciously then consciously. Our children absorb information through their senses and internalise this knowledge. The powerful machine that is our brain, distributes all information to be retrieved later and to be applied in the correct context.... The Caboolture Montessori School (CMS) provides an environment that addresses children’s needs from 15 months to 13 years of age. Our rationale is to prepare spaces as early as possible for children to grow and meet all personal milestones without external barriers. Our toddlers soon learn that they are the masters of their own learning and if the space provided is appropriate their development happens easily. Families attending our toddler sessions are supported through the process by collaborative sharing of parenting strategies and experiences. Children at CMS continue this empowered way of personalised learning in the next stages of their schooling through cycle 1 (3-6), cycle 2 (6-9) and cycle 3 (9-12). Each space provides continuity from the previous and at each stage children reinforce their understanding of agency through choices, responsibilities and accountability. The cohesiveness in the methodology, and the in-depth knowledge that our staff has of each student, allows for seamless continuity and whole person growth. Our academic results talk for themselves, but more importantly the measure of maturity, respectful behaviour, creative thinking and continuous curiosity is evidenced daily on campus by staff and visitors. Our Master Plan shows that the school will be extending our teaching and learning into an Adolescent Program. Our main reason for this decision is to continue our journey and prepare a space for young people to learn with little or no stress and become the person they dream of: ultimately we need to support young people to find their identity and develop skills required for the future. 04.01.2022 Last week the 2B Dolphins class celebrated Maria Montessori’s 150th Birthday and Multicultural day at Caboolture Montessori School. All term, the Dolphins have been learning about Mexico. It has been so interesting learning about Mexican food, dress, animals, geography, history, language, holidays, traditions and more! In preparation for multicultural day, the children each chose an aspect of Mexican culture and did a project that they could display to teach the other student...s at school about Mexico. They also made Mexican flags and Ojos De Dios (God’s eyes) and Calaveras (skulls) to decorate our classroom. Everyone also got to help prepare paletas (fresh fruit icies) and guacamole. We loved seeing everyone dressed up in their finest Mexican outfits on multicultural day, and everybody enjoyed eating and dancing in the Dolphins class before going on our adventure to visit Japan, Samoa, India, native tribes in Northern Victoria and the very interesting land of Moonya. The children learned so much about Mexico during the term and it was great to see them all so excited about embracing another culture, and our trip around the world was an amazing glimpse into so many different countries and communities! #caboolture #montessorischools #montessori #moretonbayregion #cabooltureschools #caboolturemontessori Read more at https://www.cms.qld.edu.au/dolphins-class/

01.01.2022 The Semester 2 Book Review task for 3B was to identify an important scene from a chosen book and to recreate the scene in a diorama. In presenting their reviews, students had to read the passage from their chosen book to the class and explain why the scene they had created was a significant part of their book. We have been astounded by the creativity displayed by our students and are proud to share this with you. We have uploaded more of our Otters dioramas to our website..., they are so impressive.
