06.01.2022 ATTENTION: It has been brought to our attention yesterday that an alleged customer has taken to social media with claims of an incident involving food poisoning of a young child from food purchased at our store on Friday January 29th. Firstly, to those who have been in contact to make us aware of these Facebook allegations and comments, your support and patronage is what makes being a small business operating in Caboolture for over 25 years worthwhile. We appreciate your ong...oing support. Please note, at the time of posting this statement we have not been contacted by ANY of the relevant authorities or those who have made these allegations all over Facebook. Until such a time that an official step is actually taken, we will not be responding to the incident given there have been no facts provided around what was purchased, when it was purchased or when it was consumed. We are aware that the original post and subsequent ‘shares’ into community groups have been removed but that ongoing comments regarding the alleged incident are continuing to be made. As stated above, we will not be responding to these comments or posts until official proceedings begin however we are maintaining evidence of all of this in the event of legal proceedings. Again, thanks to those who have made us aware of the ongoing online behaviour. Without having any official information our only concern at this time is that the poor child involved is ok from whatever illness he suffered Friday night and has a speedy recovery. Whilst we do not have information around the alleged incident, please note the following FACTS which are available on Queensland Health’s website, along with key phone numbers to call for further information: Whilst the food poisoning onset time can be as quickly as one hour, Queensland Health has stated that it is a common misconception that food poisoning is caused by the last meal someone ate as it can take days or weeks to eventuate, depending on the type of bacteria. In order for a case of food poisoning to be confirmed by officials, laboratory results from the patient must be analysed (from stool, blood or vomit or the food consumed). The reports from these generally take several days. Symptoms of food poisoning include the following. If you do experience these, please seek medical advice immediately: Nausea Vomiting Watery diarrhoea Abdominal pain and cramps Fever Kind Regards, The team at Caboolture Munchies
