18.01.2022 A very big thank you to everyone who attended and/or officiated at the 14th Caboolture Open Taekwondo Championships. Yet another successful event which wouldnt happen without the support of my fantastic family and army of volunteers. This year we ran Poomsae on 2 courts and Sparring on 4, which helped make the day run smoother and finish early enough for people to leave while the sun was still shining. Results and medals from both Poomsae and Kyorugi will be posted in the ...next few days. The planning of next years (15th) has already started and we plan on making this the best one ever, so keep your eyes peeled in the coming months for updates. Thanks once again to you all for your ongoing participation and support.

Players and coaches, we will be running all 3 courts with 6-11 year olds up first and we hope to have them completed around lunch time. Followed by all cadets. Then junior and seniors mixed. ... Referees for those of you who still have the official grey/orange polo shirts please wear them. I have additional ones for those who dont. Weigh in will commence at 730am and the opening ceremony at 845am

16.01.2022 Another successful competition, 13 in a row now, who says 13 is an unlucky number . But these types of events dont just happen by themselves. Many thanks go... out to my army of helpers, referees who have traveled from all over NZ, Tasmania, Victoria, NSW and South East Qld, over 200 players from NZ, Adelaide, Sydney, Bundaberg and throughout Brisbane and the Gold Coast.. Not to mention, my greatest supporters, my family who without fail put up with not only my OCD but my crankyness and all that goes with running these types of competitions. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did today, and congratulations to all those that competed today. Win or lose you are all champion athletes. From the bottom of my heart. Thanks again, and see you all again on the 3rd Sunday in June 2019 , where we will do it all over again.........

11.01.2022 Attention all clubs, coaches, athletes and parents. For the past 13 years the Caboolture Open has been run on the 3rd Sunday in June. However......... Due to a serious lack of foresight on behalf of our State Association, ATQ, they have chosen to place our States Nationals Selection only 2 weeks prior to the 2019 Caboolture Open Championships. Any Queenslander who wishes to represent Qld at this years Nationals in the Gold Coast will need to enter this event. My athletes included. Myself and my team understand that Taekwondo events come at a cost to you our members, and unfortunately the Caboolture Open has been booked for the past 12 months, and paid for in advance, we can not cancel without serious financial costs. Our State, has also refused to cancel or move this event. As a result and to help ease the financial burden on our athletes and their families, we have decided to keep the early bird discounted fee open until the regular closing date. 07.01.2022 In the light of our recent COVID-19 lockdown here in the greater Brisbane area, and if there is one thing we have learned in the midst of this pandemic. It is t...hat we are living in a very fragile world at the moment. Here at Lakerdis Martial Arts we have taken one giant step in the protection of our members and their families. Every existing and new member of our academy and their families will receive their own personalised face mask. We hope this face mask will never need to be worn, but if things turn bad again at least we will all move forward knowing we have done our part in protecting our community.
