24.01.2022 'Male box' by Mr Cackles

23.01.2022 SPRUNG - Just in case you missed us two years ago..... I remember the feeling, two years ago, in the midst of drought yet SO excited for the change of season. We spontaneously changed into our birthday suits to celebrate. There were loads of public messages around mental health in rural areas at the time and the upcoming rough season ahead for farmers.... We loved the message behind the initiative by @the.naked.farmer - that it takes more guts to talk about mental health than it does to strip off in public. This was our contribution in 2018 - and we're still laughing how mad it was. But also how liberating. We're all the same underneath - there are no feelings or thoughts any one of us can have, that another person hasn't experienced before. Ain't life grand. Lots of love fellow nudies x #canolatrail #comeseejunee #youmeandjunee #oldjunee #mentalhealth #juneeshire #lashbrookfarm

19.01.2022 My little kindy mates at Joeys Wagga on the job - an insiders view to their wonderful eggucation world . And they love being Facebook Famous! We love working with schools & groups to share our knowledge about all things chooks, food production & the natural world. (And it seems the need has never been greater). Keep up the good work clever kids!... #cackleacademy #cackleberries #youmeandjunee #canolatrail #comeseejunee #schoolholidays #eggucation #primaryschool #education #foodproduction #lifelonglearning #mrscackles

19.01.2022 Mrs Cackles is making some lists, and chicken them twice......We can't wait to welcome chaos, craft and kids back soon! #mrscackles #schoolholidays #cackleacademy #lashbrookfarm #juneeshire #comeseejunee #youmeandjunee #oldjunee #schoolholidays #christmas #

18.01.2022 Maybe a little aggressive? .....Oh man it is such a thrill to launch the last sign from our gate (since we're no longer egg producers!) Yeeeeew! Now to calm down, head down bum up for the next spazmagorical adventure. #canolatrail #comeseejunee #youmeandjunee #lashbrookfarm #mrscackles #oldschoolhouse #freerangekids

17.01.2022 One week until school hols: While the Cackle Academy will be empty for the first time this winter - Mrs Cackles will be sharing a few ideas to keep you and your possums busy & entertained at home. Some super simple ideas & activities, using stuff you're likely to already have at hand. Yippee! X

17.01.2022 School holiday activity #2: DIY lollipops! Dead set - all you need is 1 cup sugar & 3/4 cup water and you're on your way to being a superstar. We like to get out into the wild first & collect our own sticks and flowers for decorating. Kids just love noticing what's in flower this time of year. Maybe you could go for a lap around the block with a bowl and see what you can find?... Place the sugar and water in a saucepan and stir with a wooden spoon on med heat until dissolved. Then put that spoon down. Crank up the heat, and boil the bajongoes out of it until it reaches 120C (or 4mins at rapid, full blown boil). Make sure little hands are faaaaar away for this bit. On lined trays, *carefully* pour out the hot sugar mixture to form blobs on the paper. While still hot, lay the sticks on top of the blobs & sprinkle on flowers or whatever you fancy to decorate. (Sprinkles are always a winner too.) While the lollipops are cooling - hand over the cool saucepan to the kids. It will set rock hard and keep them entertained for a few more mins. If you're lucky, their teeth may be temporarily glued shut - creating the perfect opportunity for that cup of tea or important phone call. Enjoy precious possums. Lots of love, Mrs Cackles x #schoolholidays #mrscackles #lashbrookfarm #cackleberriesbylashbrookfarm #cackleberries #cackleacademy #canolatrail #gardeningaustralia #dirtgirl #sakgf #oldjunee #juneeshire

15.01.2022 Today was a little bit weird - a mixed bag of emotions.Today, we made our final delivery to our friends @foodworksturveypark. We already miss their friendly faces, relationship updates, failed hobbies & hopes for the future. We owe them a lot for their patience, friendship & kindnessover the years. I tell you what though, it feels so odd to be slowly & deliberately pulling apart something Lash & I lovingly created over the course of seven years. Change is hard. ... But - it is change that takes you on the wildest adventures and allows you to find & meet the most amazing people - including, yourself. Those lessons & memories you get to keep forever. So instead of feeling just the sad bits today - I'm allowing myself to feel brave too. Optimistic, that in order to bring new things into your life, sometimes you have to make room for them first. So - from us, a very warm thankyou to all of our buddies and supporters @foodworksturveypark. You really are the good eggs in this story. Lots of love always Mrs Cack

15.01.2022 We delivered a dozen little pom poms to the clever little kindy possums at St Joeys Wagga this morning. The chicks will live in the classroom with the students until the end of term Their teacher Sara is amazing & runs a curriculum based program (art, science, maths & fun!) wrapped around the chicks. At the end of term, the chicks are all adopted by willing families and live happily ever after. ... All this makes me want to go back to Kindy!

11.01.2022 School holiday activity #3: Cotton bud & ball craft. You can make these pretty little snowflakes by simply using cotton buds & glue. (For little hands - instead of hot glue, you could try blu tak or playdough). They look great on a window or hanging from a bedroom window .... You can make fun dot paintings with cotton buds too. If you don't have paint handy, give food colouring a go (A great one for outside). You could try making a lollipop painting or use cotton buds to make cool patterns on a table or floor? There are loads of things you can make with cotton balls as well - we made a beanie picture and I even had a crack making snowman Olaf. There are loads of fun to be had with everyday things. They're made even better by creating with them in a sunny spot outside with a simple picnic. Hours of unninterruption for you and them - win win! Happy creating little buddies x Mrs Cackles

10.01.2022 On the look for chooks? We have 2yo Isa Browns available $5ea - just like Mrs Dora the eggs-plorer here These girls are laying and very used to being handled. They make perfect pets. Pick up at our back gate 11am or 2pm - just let us know what day suits so we can have them ready for you. Text Mrs Cackles (Anna) - 0409073710 to order and please BYO box.... Why did the chicken cross the road? Because she moved in with you! Talk soon Possums X Mrs Cackles

10.01.2022 What a pearler of a day to be outside and acting like a knob with your kids. At times like this - when there seems to be little certainty about anything at all really, I take comfort knowing that all of our kids (yours and mine) believe things are gonna be ok. I reckon if the grown ups are still cracking funnies and acting the tool- there's still so much to enjoy, those chickens keep laying, the kids will keep picking noses, someone will always forget to flush.... Maybe this is a richer way to live? For me - it's the little things. It's always the little things. So maybe you could invest a little time today, working out how you could be a little bit of a spontaneous tosser too? Maybe you already are - and in that case, I need pics! Your kids will love it. You might just too. It's those little things. Lots of love & keep your clothes on (too cold out there people!) x

10.01.2022 5 years ago - Lash & I had a baby in this public toilet, 10mins down the road from home (Female toilet on the right - fyi). Aside from having a beautiful boy - we also realised how lucky we were. I remember sitting in there - minus 4C, surrounded by tumbleweed and spiders - feeling overwhelmingly lucky. Lucky to be safe, lucky to be holding a healthy slimy baby, lucky to have an ambulance on the way. Lucky my husband is a good catch.... Feeling lucky to live in Australia - that even our public toilets have running water and electricity. So today - I reckon, even while everything is taking a nosedive, we're all still so lucky. Sometime even I forget. Ripper toilets, clean water, free healthcare, free education, safety and a democratic country. That'll do it for me. Happy Monday legends. Happy birthday beautiful boy x Lots of love Mrs Cackles & Co

09.01.2022 Mr Cackles & I have just come back from a long walk. Gumboots & red wine in hand. Trying to work out "What is life really all about?" Today I helped a man trapped in his car by a fallen branch, near our place - in the freak hail storm we copped this arvo. I was so scared as to what I'd find in that car, but - he was thank-God-ok and was in a better state than I was. I also witnessed 6 cars in Wagga come to a grinding halt to spare the lives of a family of ducks. A random asso...rtment of awesome humans. I also just joined the Labor party... I can't keep it in anymore. I just have so much love for people. Even random people I've never met, even as a little kid, just ask Mum. Bloody hell - that sounds weird right? But I so want to lead. I want to have hard discussions. Call me what you want - but I want everyone to have a bloody great life. I want to advocate for others. I really just love people - even the turds. That's all. And man this wine is good. Lots of love, Mrs Cack

07.01.2022 He's always a happy chappy my Mr Cackles - especially when surrounded by good looking birds . Your special men can be this happy too - just in time for Father's day this Sun. We have 18month Isa Browns $15ea and black commercial layers $35ea available - Any day 11am or 2pm. Simply let Mrs Cackles know (Anna - 0409073710) when suits you ... so we can have them ready for you to collect at our mailbox . Please BYO cardboard box/cages to: 12 Mimosa street Old Junee (30 mins north of Wagga - a hop skip & a jump from the @juneelicoriceandchocolate ). #youmeandjunee #oldjunee #canolatrail #comeseejunee #mrscackles #cackleberries #cackleacademy #schoolholidays #juneeshire #fathersday #freerangedads

06.01.2022 Have I ever told you that I want to live to 120? Well - I do..... Crazy? Maybe. But I feel like there's just so much to do? Today I'm only at number 35. And today - I received something really special. My Grandfather's saw and plans for the home he and Babushka built in Wagga in the 1950's.... The wooden box - my Grandfather made from an old wardrobe in Poland? Ukraine? while he & my Babushka were preparing to migrate to Australia. All of their possessions - fitted in this box. All of them. Allllll offfff theeeem. The saw, the plans, the box - have no monetary value. Zilch. They represent something much greater to me. They remind me - that with goals, dogged determination, great food and people around you - you can make a great life, from dead set nothing. That your life is as big as you dream it to be. Which is why I need to live until at least 120. So join me? It'll be fun I promise. Lots of love always and keep working on your proud life. We got a long way to go & so much to do. Lots of love always, X Mrs Cack

04.01.2022 After 7 years of dead set making it up as we go - this is what matters most. Being nominated for an award........ Haha bi-jingoes - you know by now, that just so ain't us. But! We have always loved the people bit, the real-ness that is life, the threads that make us realise we're all the same underneath (just like that time in the chook shed.....) So - while we probably feel more comfortable in our own little world with our funny feathery pals, it is due to these chance littl...e connections with people that we get such a fulfilling view of the world. It has always been an honour to feed people - particularly at a time like this. Feeding people and sharing, is our love language. After all this time, countless dozens and some endlessly long days - it's all been worth it, in order to have met all of you. So thankyou for the nomination. We mean it. It's all for you. It's always been about you. If you'd like to vote - you can. But truly - we've already won gold. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CrowAwardsCustomerService Lots of love always, Mr & Mrs Cackles Aka Andog & Lash x

04.01.2022 School hols activity #1: Growing food from scraps! This one is super simple & kids big and small will marvel in this incredible display of nature at work. Simply chop off the bottom of a celery/onion/carrot and stick it in a shallow dish of water and place in a sunny spot inside. After a week or so, you should see it shooting tops and roots, then you can transplant into the garden & voila! You have your own new plants from scraps.... You can also grow new plants from spring onion bottoms or leeks or that random bit of garlic that has sprouted a green top. Stick it in the garden and prepare to be amazed! While you're at it, next time you buy a pumpkin, scoop its seeds onto some paper to dry and save for October planting. From one pumpkin, you can grown squillions of pumpkins which will be ready May next year. And they're really easy to grow! Happy experimenting green thumbs
