08.01.2022 It is sometimes hard looking back at cakes I’ve made and resisting the urge to pick them to pieces. Comparing the cake I made then to my skills and standards now isn’t really being fair on myself. It sounds a bit twee but each cake is a journey, and I learn so much each time that I can then use for the next one I made this this dragon cake nine years ago (shown here with my very cute baby girl, Gabby ) for a friend’s 40th birthday. It was chocolate mud cake covered in chocolate ganache and fondant. I had to transport the cake from Yass to Wee Jasper, and unfortunately I wasn’t as experienced in constructing the internal supports back then, so the head was sitting on its chest by the time we sang happy birthday.
