25.01.2022 Have seen better days!
24.01.2022 Wouldn’t this be nice for a change!! http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/enso/
24.01.2022 How good would this be!
23.01.2022 The positive articles for sheep meat prices keep coming. Given that the flock sizes are so relatively low it makes sense that high lamb prices will be with us for the near term anyway. Top of mind for me is what do we do when the cycle changes and how do we keep ahead of the change, as when supply increases it will be with us for quite some time as industry structural moves do not come and go quickly. What is the next "wave to ride" when lamb prices start to fall? Maybe fine wool?? Will the cattle heard increase faster than the national sheep flock? Wheat looks oversupplied globally at the moment, but maybe its up cycle will match the down cycle of sheep? What can we get short to make money in a down cycle of lamb prices? Any thoughts?
23.01.2022 Feeling very lucky to have a full moisture profile in our crops. This picture shows the moisture probe right up to the handle! Such a tough year for our crops as they went in late because it was dry and so they have been enduring the winter at an immature stage of their development and they have struggled as a result. Hopefully they will get a better run from here. Perhaps a lick of Urea will be in order! I am very aware that others havent been so lucky with the season and I certainly am sympathetic for their situation, especially in a period of falling animal prices. Wishing all farming businesses a successful second half of the year.
23.01.2022 Loving this wild pig caught at Bogolara!
22.01.2022 How incredibly bad is this! After so much time in drought the map looks horrible. More than that, the slightly better off areas are on a knife edge. Fingers crossed everyone.
22.01.2022 This is a really interesting article which could revolutionise the slow payments in our industry. Congratulations to The Farmer magazine and to NSW Farmers for the article.
21.01.2022 Interesting that consumers are still happy to pay more for beef than lamb even with lamb around record prices and beef prices coming back a bit. it is good reason to run both if possible!!
20.01.2022 Where did summer go? Up to 10cm of snow has fallen over the Brindabella Ranges in the ACT overnight and it still continues to fall as of 7.30am this morning. Rug up Canberra its going to be a cold one
18.01.2022 Nothing better than seeing happy animals on a crop!
16.01.2022 this is such a positive message from farmers!
16.01.2022 Great to see the effects of some recent rain on a very dry Oats crop! The difference in the country side after a little bit of rain is amazing.
16.01.2022 Rural property is certainly having a very strong run, the really good point is that it is being driven by strong earnings with a continuing positive outlook. This article is well worth a read.
16.01.2022 This is quite a sobering article about beef prices and it reminded me that commodity prices driven by supply and demand and are therefore cyclical!!
15.01.2022 I am really glad to read this article and to see the governments report findings. In particular I am glad to see some real and credible numbers on Chinese farmland ownership, and I hope this report acts as a catalyst to dispel the paranoia and misinformation about Chinese investment into this sector. In particular, the report says that Chinese investors rank 5th in the foreign ownership list with only 2.8% of the foreign owned land and 0.4% of total farmland. The UK owns over... 52% of foreign owned land and 7.2% of total farmland, followed by USA. Between these two they own 67.5% of foreign owned land. (Foreigners own just over 13% of total farmland and over 83% of that is leasehold) I hope there is rational debate about this within our industry and that it helps xenophobic attitudes subside, with the focus turning on the need for foreign capital to help develop our industry to cater to enormous potential for us in global markets. Comments welcome! See more
15.01.2022 Everything comes at a price!
14.01.2022 Really glad to see some validation of what many of us had been observing for a while. Farmland is a very strong asset class with low correlation to other assets.
13.01.2022 It’s a great season so far. Fingers crossed for a decent harvest and run into summer!
13.01.2022 Wouldnt this be nice for a change!! http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/enso/

09.01.2022 I am usually very wary of articles with only positive forecasts about industries with historically volatile prices, however this article seems very compelling. Credit must go to the MLA and others for creating such strong and continuing demand for sheep meat. With total flock numbers staying low and slaughter rates high then baring a climatic event it seems reasonable to be positive about the lamb industry for the medium term. Finger crossed!!
09.01.2022 It is very pleasing to see some real progress with pre operation pain relief for our sheep. It is very frustrating to try and participate in the muelsing debate when producers dont have an meaningful alternative to use. Post operation relief seems unsatisfactory so congratulations to Boehringer Ingelheim for producing this product. I will certainly be looking to use it if possible.
06.01.2022 Quality Merino ewes are hard to find end even harder to buy! We tried to buy some today and were surprised by how expensive they eventually traded. This article shed some light on that particular Figure 2.
05.01.2022 If it is not the smoke it is the dust. A terrible and terrifying day. My thoughts and well wishes go out to everyone around the fires and I hope everyone stays safe.
04.01.2022 I thought this was an interesting article put out by Australian Farmers about GMO. It seems that as time goes by we have less to fear. Any thoughts?
03.01.2022 Crikey! Not good for lambing
03.01.2022 There is a pretty significant regenerative project being done in one of our paddocks and we are super excited about it! 5 of our staff (including me) have done the Tarwyn Park course at Mullon Creek and this is our first project to come from that. Stay tuned!!
03.01.2022 It is good to see some real numbers reinforcing the positive outlook for cattle prices. I think this is a very positive for our industry as it gives confidence to producers to plan investments in their business for the future. With foreign investment so restricted and politically sensitive, government appetite for agri infrastructure projects very limited and slow to show much progress, I think it will be need to be those already in the industry will the only ones to invest in the industry for the future. To do that there needs to be reasonable profits from trading and substantiated confidence for the future and this article supports that.

01.01.2022 This article seems to be very good news for Lamb producers!
