22.01.2022 Sadly yesterday we had to say goodbye to Billie....my beautiful, loving, furry shop assistant for 13 years. She stole my heart. It has been a tough week coming to terms with the decision. Last night I drove one hour each way to and from the vet. I could have turned around many times but knew I was about to do the right thing. Billie was my very best friend but in so much pain. It was the most heartbreaking but touching experience with a beautiful young woman vet. I cannot be ...more grateful for how Maddy, a Port Lincoln veterinarian helped me. Even with me sobbing she was so kind, loving, gentle and supportive. I am touched by the warmth of the vet and saddened by our great loss. We had a burial in the dark with the headlights of the car with a wild South Westerly wind blowing and lightning all around us. Appropriate because Billie was named after a cyclone! Goodbye my dear beautiful best friend. You are truly missed. Billie will be in my heart forevermore. I feel so sad and empty today but know she is at rest now. Goodbye Billie Dog. This experience makes me think of aging and the issues of euthanasia. I hope when I am old and in pain with no good prognosis someone can ease me gently into the afterworld. 08.01.2022 Billie my shop assistant for almost 13 years! She has been a subject of some of my creative energy. Always there when I need her and a happy shadow of my very step. She loved the beach and was a bit noisy. I just love her face so much. Sadly yesterday we had to say goodbye to Billie. It has been a tough week coming to terms with the decision. 05.01.2022 Something close to my heart.... our fragile pink salt lake that I treasure and find immense inspiration from is getting trashed by a big, international, insensitive clothing brand. I probably will get into trouble for this post but what is going on is wrong on so many levels. This little strip of road between the salt lakes is a habitat to beautiful little birds. This brand has come in and are smashing the place so they can do a photo shoot of their summer line. No discussing... it with the wider community, no locals there to explain the fragile ecosystem. Smash and go to line their pockets. Beautiful natural places all over the world are being ruined by greed, human impact, and thoughtless exposure. Many places just cannot handle the destruction humans make. So sad. So angry. How do you stop this stuff? For one boycott brands that are doing it. What do you think about this? 04.01.2022 An email I got from SA Tourism today. Good evening, In light of today’s announcement from the South Australian Government of significant COVID restrictions, the virtual runway show planned by PrettyLittleThing and We Are Komodo has been cancelled. Event organisers have arranged for any models and creative crew that were on site today, to be transported home today (via the bubble arrangement that was planned). Some production crew will remain to bump-out of the site. In line... with the event organiser’s traffic and waste management plans, the SATC has reminded organisers and production of their obligations to leave the site in the same pristine condition as prior to bump-in, and they are absolutely committed to this. It’s important to note, we’ve heard some of the concerns expressed in the local community about the campaign run by PrettyLittleThing and the SATC fully appreciates that the region is a special place. We’ve been very clear with event organisers that the area is beautiful and they must leave no trace of being there. The SATC was approached by PrettyLittleThing to launch its summer campaign in some of our state’s picturesque tourism destinations (including the lake and others like Kangaroo Island) to be beamed across the world to a potential audience of almost 42 million. We’re already seen incredible imagery featured on billboards in Times Square in New York, which has a huge audience. There is a very large captive audience around the world right now, dreaming about their next chance to take an overseas holiday, so it is the SATC’s charter to make sure that SA remains visible. When we get through COVID (and we will) we have to get people travelling, back into work and get our tourism industry up and running again. Look after yourselves and one another.
