24.01.2022 Nan Chauncy, author of "Tangara" and "Mathinnas People" inspired me as a child. Her writing created a beautiful weaving of cultures, both the lovely and unlovely, in a way which has never left me. While we no longer have either of those titles in stock, we do have the following: "They Found a Cave", "Worlds End Has Come" and "Half a World."
24.01.2022 Kim and I are a long way from home.... not all who wander at lost When we return, next week, we will be up and running for Australian orders. However, our first fourteen days will be in isolation as we have been out of our home state (although we have been mostly in isolation while travelling by car and camper). My reading is Discovering Daisy by Betty Neels and anything by Neville Goddard. Kim is reading sci fi. What are you reading in this time of self isolation?
23.01.2022 We are heading off on a book-buying adventure... The shop will be shut for the next few weeks. However, message us if you have any queries, we will try to answer them as best we can.

19.01.2022 Tamora Pierce, an author of fantasy books, created strong series about magic, knights and imaginary lands ... many with strong female lead characters. Her own story is rather worth reading... see the link below. The last paragraph, on her Biography page, says a lot .... "Its a pretty good life, if I do say so myself. Struggling along as a kid and even through my twenties, its the kind of life I dreamed of but never believed I would get. Yet here I am, after a lot of work, a lot of worry, a lot of care for details, and a massive chunk of luck, the kind that brought me such strong friends and readers. Pretty good for a hillbilly, yes? And I never take it for granted." Tamora Pierce.
19.01.2022 Ravynne Phelan is an artist and author, her card decks are extraordinarily beautiful and her books are full of insightful wisdom. If you love art have a look at Ravynne Phelan.

18.01.2022 Poor Fellow My Country by Xavier Herbert... It came into stock and is leaving only a few days later. Great writing, being appreciated, is part of the joy of selling books.
18.01.2022 Thanks to Jem-Melbourne for your lovely comments: "Hello all there at Caerwen Books, (South Wales via Western Aus?) Thankyou for my new Terry Pratchett book, ABE order nr: 6*******4, which has arrived safely in Melbourne.... I very much admired the packaging, beautifully and thoroughly done in largely recycled materials. Regards, Jem- Melbourne" Packing books sustainably is a challenge we are trying to meet. We have found biodegradable packing tape from BioGone and a paper version of bubblewrap. We also use recycled cardboard and plastic bags. Our wish list includes compostable packing bags and bubblewrap.

17.01.2022 Cover art will keep me OUT of a book - there is no way I will ever read "Necroscope" by Brian Lumley for instance. However, I have read a few of these... Salem's Lot is NOT scary IMHO
16.01.2022 Now we know why Roald Dahl wrote "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!" Chocolate was important to him :)

13.01.2022 The magic of "The Lord of the Rings" by J. R. R. Tolkien woke up a love of fantasy in me. In each and every time I reread it, at least once a year for 20 years or so, I found something new, magical and beautiful. Many of the books, in the list, contain beauty and magic and the keys to worlds unknown. Come, dream a little...

04.01.2022 Nan Chauncy wrote one of my all-time favourite books, "Tangara". It is a beautiful story of friendship and learning, I first read it in 1974 or thereabouts, it still touches my heart today (yes, there is a copy in my private collection!). "Mathinnas People" is equally beautiful... so worth a read!
04.01.2022 Henry Thoreau: have you read his works? There are many different Thoreaus to commemorate: The environmentalist, the abolitionist, the ethnologist, the globalist, the anti-imperialist, the Yankee saint who earned the devotion of Tolstoy and Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.
