19.01.2022 Another cubby delivered here in Geelong. Thanks Gen! Kids loved it Im told. My favourite part is always the kids having great playtime.... Yesterday we had sun for a change and as I was building the cubby below I was watching my kids play in their cubby. Sounded like a load of bollocks to me but they were intensely playing something important. In and out the cubby, mud cakes, pretend this, pretend that... Remember Cafe Cubby is the only place to get a solid, all weather cubby that kids love for under $1000 - spread the word - the kids will love you for it!!

14.01.2022 Yesterday I was in charge of the kids - all three of them!!!! How did I cope? Well they were getting grumpy and moaning (which I hate) so I thought buggar this we are going for walk. (just before bedtime). The eldest cried "How boring!!! The middle one nagged on and on "Where are we going???... The youngest couldnt care less and was up for an adventure. We walked around the streets and imagined who lived in what house. Then we found a new block of apartments and we sneaked a look around. This also included the girls climbing the brand new stairs to the top floor, giggling and nervous that they might get caught. We walked along walls and jumped off. played silly buggars. Then the eldest got swooped by a magpie. That added a ton of drama. Two streets worth and we were back home. The kids tired and happy. No moaning or fighting or anything. Bed time was easy! When in doubt, send them out eh?....:)

09.01.2022 Occasionally I read a bunch of stuff on how to be a better parent. My girls will tell you I probably need to read a whole bunch more! One thing that comes up time and time again is the value of playing. Most people thing kids are just "playing" and sometimes its just manic nonsense and over excitement. Real play is when kids try and make sense of the world around them and this could mean a few sticks and stones or a cafe cubby (had to slide that in right there:). Kids will m...imic adults or play out situations that have previously happened to them or create a magical fantasy world where everything goes their way. Whatever the kids are "playing" they learning about life and about themselves and learning to cope within their environment. They dont care about expensive toys or thrills its their brain growing. When I first started to notice my girls and now my wee boy I thought it was all silliness but standing back I can see them from a different light and I find it fascinating. And you?

08.01.2022 A healthy kid is an active kid is a happy kid(same goes for us old farts actually). Ive noticed my kids can very easily be glued to their iPads and although they are quiet this cant be good. So its no iPad time during the week and outside you little people as much as possible. Walk, play, run, fight, make a mud cake extravaganza I dont care but outside you go! Even if its a bit nippy - youll get used to it - its not Finland! Hi Duncan, I am forwarding a picture of our Therapists in the Caf Cubby that you built for our Werribee office.... The cubby has been a huge success with the children, especially during therapy groups which aim to increase social communication and play between children. The cubby has facilitated an increase in self-confidence in social settings, a greater ability to take turns with peers, more social communication and a greater tolerance to sensory stimuli. 06.01.2022 What Do Kids Really Want From A Cubby? From my experience kids want three important things from a cubby: 1. Freedom & control to do as they wish, make a mess and have an area that adults will leave them be.... 2. Kids want a place to have fun and use their imaginations to play and learn and be ... wait for ... KIDS! 3. Kids love play acting and copying Mum and pretending to cook and serve food. Its a natural thing for them to do. Ive witnessed nearly every child Ive ever met get into this sort of activity. Kids arent precious they dont need the country cottage look or the pretty Hansel and Gretel house. Theyll do the imagining and make up their own stories. They just need a simple platform so they can use their imaginations Thats why I was inspired to start Cafe Cubby. Yous have a great weekend!

05.01.2022 As a parent with three gorgeous kids (thanks Keely) sometimes its difficult to pay enough attention to what they get up to and even join in. Sometimes though its great to just do what they are doing and everything else in the world can buggar off. Kids just play hard then move onto the next thing most of the time without a care in the world. They focus directly on what they are doing and nothing else.... How about the adult b grade movies constantly going around our heads and the multiple pressures we encounter. Nope not with the kids. So dive into their world for a short time and focus only on the fun. Get inside your cafe cubby and cook up a decent mudcake eh? The kids will love it and youll probably feel better as well.

02.01.2022 One of the biggest surprises I got building cubbies was the reaction of the parents and kids when I deliver the cubbies. The parents feel good, the kids are excited and this is probably the most satisfying part for me. Ive never been involved with any other kind of business where there is such a feel good outcome.... I think its a big tick for the parents when they get their children a cubby that they know the kids love. And kids just dont care as long as its fun!!! I love the fact I have a tiny role to play in making kids happy. Thats a bit more meaningful that just a financial transaction or selling a product. Go the kids I say...
