22.01.2022 Meet Christian and Luz Dalcy, they met at Cafe Stepping Stone and are now expecting a baby together. After a year of hard, consistent work, Luz earnt the position of kitchen supervisor and Cristian floor supervisor. Whilst working with us they both put their heads together and came up with a business to help Luz's mum gain independence in her home town of Rocha, an hour south of Cartagena. They started a rotisserie chicken business that Luz's mum could run on weekends and hol...idays, helping on their days off. They have decided to move to Rocha and invest in the business full time and plan on selling a bigger variety of fast food options. They plan to use the loan to upgrade their equipment, purchase tables and chair for their customers and help them purchase and transport ingredients. We are so proud to be part of the 2020 Millhouse Ventures GRIST program, an accelerator especially designed for social enterprises here in Canberra! We thought it was important to review what we have learnt and experienced in Colombia and apply that here. Cindy Mitchell, Irene Lemon and the gang of experts, mentors and professionals, who are part of the team, are helping us do just that! ... Talented comic artist @saraheshaw will be teaching the workshop and raising funds in collaboration with @peacecorpscolombia group 'Friends of Colombia". . Cafe Sepping Stone and @dominovolunteers have teamed up to direct donations from this workshop towards a second round of Stepping Stone Pa'lante, providing mini grants for artistic entrepreneurs in Cartagena from low socioeconomic areas.... 100% of donations will go to the artists! .
