19.01.2022 Introducing the Diggers Rest. Our new cafe at The Barracks will be home to our new initiative Diggers Rest. We are hoping to roll them out in all of our new locations as we expand. What is it?... It is a place to rest. It is designed so that you may sit with your back to the wall, you cannot be approached from any direction but right in front of you. This is key to helping Veterans manage their anxiety when they are in crowded areas. While you are resting you will be entitled to FREE coffee, we wont police this, if you feel like you need to sit there no questions will be asked. We believe that we are pioneering this idea and we will be actively pushing for others to join us in creating a safe mental health location in their cafes. This is just another way we are Helping Veterans move Forward. We would love it if you could share this post and provide feedback on this idea.

We are aware that many find today controversial and maybe there are small changes that could be made to make it more inclusive to all Australians; however, we celebrate by remembering the past and working to build a better future for all. Do not forget that there are many Australians who can’t be in the ‘Lucky Country’ this year due to War; COVID etc.

05.01.2022 Not our words; however we whole heartedly agree. Keep an eye on your mates over the coming weeks as the media are about to damage a lot of innocent Veterans. ......... So I’ve been listening to all the shit on the radio about the Afghanistan War Crimes report and getting more and more pissed off about all the supposed ‘woke’ people saying the Army is a disgrace and the entire SASR should be disbanded. Wake up to yourselves. Over 25,000 Australian military personnel have served in Afghanistan. This report has said that 25 of them are implicated in potential crimes and of that 25, 19 have had their cases handed to the AFP for further investigation. 19. The other thousands of men and women served this country with honour and should hold their heads high as they have done themselves, their family, the ADF and this nation proud. Hundreds if not thousands of these guys have had their unit citations stripped from them today through no fault of their own. I in no way condone the alleged murders but to tar the entire Army with the same brush is a crime in itself. 41 families lost their sons and brothers and fathers serving this country proudly and lawfully. And hundreds more have taken their own lives back here at home due to mental illness. 50 years ago Vietnam Veterans had to fight for their right to be recognized and to not be called baby killers and were spat at by dumb mother fuckers that didn’t know or care what they went through. Don’t let this happen again for the alleged actions of a few and by listening to hippy media outlets that just love jumping on a bandwagon and insighting hate and anger towards people that don’t deserve it. Not on our watch. Never above you, never below you, always beside you. Hold your heads high lads. You’ve more than earnt it. It’s a privilege and an honour to call you friends and family.
