09.01.2022 Today marks the start of Foster and Kinship Carer Week for 2020. The week provides an opportunity for us to celebrate and show our gratitude for the dedica...ted and passionate carers who open their hearts and homes to children and young people in need everyday. As a way of marking the week, the Sunday Mail has partnered with the Department for Child Protection and our non-government partners to today publish a special 24-page liftout dedicated to foster and kinship care. The liftout shares inspiring stories from current carers from all walks of life (providing various types of care), lived experience from a young person who has been through the care system, information about the process to become a carer and supports available once you are approved. Olympic cyclist Anna Meares has also kindly shared her experience of becoming an emergency foster carer with Anglicare SA. If you’ve been thinking about becoming a foster carer, grab a copy to find out more! Otherwise you can visit www.fostercare.sa.gov.au or call 1300 2 FOSTER for more information.
