20.01.2022 We need your help! The Cairns Area Fish Stocking Group is a small group of locals dedicated to improving fishing opportunities in the Cairns Region. In a normal year around 1500- 5000 barramundi fingerings are stocked into our waterways with the kind support of Cairns Regional Council and other support. Through the kind generosity of local businessman Ken Chapman we have been able to secure approximately 70,000 barramundi fingerlings (9-15cm)from his Hatchery for the same cos...t as our annual stockings and been given generous payment terms. These fish will go into Trinity Inlet Russel, Mulgrave and Barron rivers. This will give Barramundi fishing a massive boost in coming years and cement our place as Australia’s Fishing Capital A lot of us are suffering financially during this Covid 19 pandemic but any contributions would be greatly appreciated The more we raise the more fish we can stock. 17.01.2022 Barra enjoying a slip and slide into the Mulgrave River , the kids were envious!

15.01.2022 Thanks to all that helped today, we stocked 16500 barramundi into the Russell River around Bellenden Ker upstream towards Clyde Road bridge. On the Mulgrave Don Reghenzani had engineered a super slide for 16500 to enter the upper reach weed beds. Tomorrow will start at Redbank Creek around 2 pm and Barron River around 4 pm, need as many boats as we can get with as many eskies or tubs they can carry. 33000 plus Barra is a lot to stock! We will update tomorrow..

13.01.2022 Stocking Update, Redbank Creek now around 2:15 to 2:30 , Barron probably around 4:30 will update that one depending on how fast we can stock the inlet.

12.01.2022 Truck arriving around 1:30

11.01.2022 Barra super slider! By Don Reghenzani!

10.01.2022 From the CAFSG a huge thank you to everyone that gave a hand today, awesome effort, we’ll look forward to seeing the results on 18 months. Around 25,000 Barra went into Trinity Inlet and 11000 into the Barron River. To top off an excellent day , we had councillors attend the Barron stocking and CR Brett Moller advised the council had bought forward funding of $10,000 for our group. Huge thank you to Brett Moller and Cairns Regional Council!! Please post some pics from today here!
