25.01.2022 Trail Horse Training Day 25 and 26 July 2020 Would you like to participate in our Trail Horse Training Day at the Gordonvale Pony Club Grounds 25 and 26 July from 8am to 4pm. Activities include obstacles course, ground work, strengthen and build partnership with your horse, rider posture and seat, managing anxiety in large groups (horse and rider). All activities are aimed to assist you to create a stronger connection with your horse on your trail rides.... 24.01.2022 ROSS AND LOCKE TRAIL RIDE - NOVEMBER 2019 Our first Ross and Locke ride was well attended by riders aged from 12 to 70+. Beautiful area to ride and we would like to thank Rob Fairweather for allowing us access through his property.... It was a great opportunity for new riders to expose themselves and their horses too a different environment. The local traffic was very accommodating to our presence on the road. 19.01.2022 PIC NUMBERS AND YOUR BIOSECURITY OBLIGATIONS PIC Numbers & your biosecurity obligations. Who must be registered as a biosecurity entity (The Cairns & District Trail Horse Club Inc): Adheres to the requirements of the Queensland Government when conducting rides and events. ... Please be aware of the following, as every horse owner MUST be a registered entity and provide us with a valid and current PIC Number for the property on which they keep their horse/s. Failing to provide us with the PIC Number will preclude you from being able to participate at our rides and events. If you own or keep any of the following in Queensland, you must be registered as a biosecurity entity: 1 or more: cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, bison, buffalo, deer or alpacas, llamas, or other animals from the Camelidae family or horses, ponies, donkeys, mules, zebras, or other animals from the Equidae family. 100 or more birds that: are raised for human consumption (e.g. poultry) or are raised for the production of eggs for human consumption (e.g. poultry) or have been released into free flight since they started being kept in captivity (e.g. pigeons) 1 or more beehives. You must be registered even if you dont own the land where you keep your animals, for example, if: you are a lessee your animals are agisted on someone elses land you keep beehives on someone elses land. A person, persons or organisation can be registered as a biosecurity entity. If you held a property identification code (PIC) on 30 June 2016, you may already be registered as a biosecurity entity. Find out how to check if you have been registered. If you meet the registration requirements you must be registered to comply with the Biosecurity Act 2014. Holding facilities The biosecurity entity is generally the owner of the animal(s). However, you must also be registered if you operate a holding facility where livestock are kept temporarily, even if you dont own the animals kept there. Holding facilities include: veterinarian clinics that receive livestock or horses for treatment showgrounds or sporting grounds local government pound yards an animal refuge saleyards clearing dips abattoirs or slaughterhouses live export and transport depots stock routes. 12.01.2022 Beautiful Mulgrave River Members Ride completed this morning, thank you to David Fraser for liasing with property owners and MSF Mulgrave Mill who allowed us access. The tracks along the river were all shaded by the beautiful old river cherry and fig trees. Morning Tea was beside the river with a couple of horses enjoying bbq shapes, muesli bars, apples and carrots.... Thank you to those members who were able to attend. That was our last ride for the year. Looking forward to 2021 Live Life Trail Riding

You also need to remember to bring drinking water and your smoko. Dont forget your sun screen ... The Trail Boss has arranged plenty of tea, coffee and cool refreshments at the smoko stop. Current Australian standard AS/NZS 3838 (2006 onwards) provided they are SAI Global marked. ... b.. New Australian standard ARB HS 2012 provided they are SAI Global marked. c.. Current American standard ASTM F1163 (2004a or 04a onwards) provided they are SEI marked. d.. Current American standard SNELL E2001. e.. 06.01.2022 Join us on our Ross and Locke Trail Ride Sunday 10th November. Meet at Parking Area 200m down Little Mulgrave Road Little Mulgrave at 6.30am for 7.00am departure. Ride time approximately 4 hours with a 45 min morning tea break, bring your own morning tea and drinking water, tea and coffee supplied. Ground surfaces encountered will be rocky, sandy, soft loam and hard packed ground with creek crossings. Horses must be safe in traffic. 05.01.2022 ACCREDITATION WEEKEND It was a great weekend, and we have some wonderful photos to share with everyone. The weather was amazing! Blue skies that brought in the super chilly evenings - perfect for camping FNQ style ;)... The attendees learnt alot about becoming a Trail Boss, which is an important role for our upcoming trail rides. Keep an eye on our page, as we have a few rides being planned. 04.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS The executive members had a meeting on the weekend and we know meetings are not generally labelled as exciting ;) BUT its the first since Covid, which means things in our riding world are starting to move forward :) This is exciting! We have a few things in the pipeline, as more Covid restrictions are being lifted - come and try days, day trails and we even talked about an overnight trail ride.... Please keep an eye on our page in the next week or so, as we announce dates, events etc. The executive committee is excited to be back planning events for the club. We can see happy trails in the very near future :)
