Covered in encrusted brown or grey skin with yellow, orange and red patches, the stonefish has the capability to camouflage very well with their surrounding environment and are often mistaken for a stone or part of a coral reef Once stepped on or touched, their venom sacs are activated and is released through their 13 spines - able to kill a fully grown human in only 2 hours. 13.01.2022 Say hello to Ziggy our Largetooth Sawfish! Sawfish get their name from their saw-like appendage which is referred to as a Rostrum. This is a long flattened, extension of their skeleton with rows of sharp tooth-like scales along both edges. Sawfish use their rostrum to catch and detect their prey, as well as to defend themselves from predators Unfortunately, these animals are critically endangered, with less than 10% of their natural population left in the wild.
