21.01.2022 In a proud partnership with the Cairns Game Fishing Commemorative Association and Ports North, a monumental piece of public art is undergoing construction at this site. When complete the artwork will... recognise a vital piece of Cairns tourism history and the contribution it has made to the region over the past 50 years along with the continuing benefits to tourism into the future. This amenity will be here for everyone to appreciate and enjoy. Please be patient while construction is in progress.

12.01.2022 Work has commenced on the Commemorative Sculpture for the Cairns waterfront. It will be the largest piece of public art in Cairns and the most photographed. The light horseman is the latest piece from the Fine Art Studio fabricating our sculpture.

10.01.2022 The moment we have been waiting for for some time. The first of the 600mm (24 inch) numbered limited edition maquettes (1 to 20) of the Cairns Black Marlin Sculpture are finished and waiting for their unique native North Queensland timber bases. Artist Craig Smith and Mal Wood from just Mal Wood Fine Art Foundry have chosen to use the traditional, classical patination process - resulting in a careful balance of patina and polished bronze, and that both each individual sculptural piece and it's wooden base will have unique characteristics specific to that numbered piece of artwork. At just $5,000 AUD each plus packaging and freight they will be eagerly sought as a collectors piece. Email: [email protected] to pre purchase one of these unique pieces of art.

10.01.2022 This is what the Cairns Black Marlin Sculpture is all about, wow!

10.01.2022 A little bit closer every day

10.01.2022 Work begins on the sculpture foundation and landscaping at the sculpture site at the Cairns Marlin Marina next week. The anticipation level to see this monumental piece of Cairns history unveiled in September is at an all time high. The sculpture itself is in the final stages of construction in Melbourne waiting for Craig Smiths artistic finishing touches and patina application bringing the artwork to life. We still have a few of the commemorative maquettes available to discerning collectors.

09.01.2022 Where it all started

06.01.2022 Anyone coming to Cairns in September for the unveiling of the black marlin sculpture and the 50th Anniversary tournament, make sure you book hotel rooms and marina berths now. You won't get a berth in Cairns otherwise.

05.01.2022 If anyone has bookings at the Shangri-la Hotel in Cairns for the 50th Anniversary time Sept. 24 to Oct. 1, could they please advise surnames on the bookings. Shangri-la want to know who is booked in for the 50th and not just a normal booking. Appreciated.

04.01.2022 There are still a few of the Limited Edition Commemorative Maquettes available but only a few so don't miss the opportunity to own one of these very collectible pieces.

03.01.2022 Pleased to announce that Rob Kramer the President of the International Game Fish Association will be attending the sculpture unveiling in September, just one of many dignitaries who will be there.
