Mr Whyte was the Executive Officer of the Cairns Chamber of Commerce from August 1998 August 2011. He was most recently the General Manager of APN Cape York, but was a part of many other ventures such as being a well-respected lecturer at JCU and was heavily involved in running the Australian Institute of Management Awards. He was on several boards and committees, includ...ing (but not limited to) MBA Alumni (JCU), JCU Business Faculty Advisory Board, Advance Cairns, Tablelands Industry Workforce Group and Cairns Regional Council Sustainable Cities Committee.
