25.01.2022 Another big win from the U18 youth girls last night beating Centrals in the rain, well done girls! And the 14s another good win, looking very good. U12s just missed out but playing well, cheer them on this week for a big win. U8s & U10s had good games and are picking up greatly with skill and team game play. Another home game this weekend and it will be pretty busy however not too late which is good. We will have three smaller fields first up then an U11 game to set up and wh...ere we will really need some help in the canteen and kitchen through the U12s game will be very appreciated and we still need to man the front gate if you can please lend a hand there. The season has a really good feel to it after the uncertain start and if you take any good photos or have a great game wrap up, even short video please send to [email protected] to put on the facebook page. 23.01.2022 Time to register for Auskick! Cairns City Lions Auskick is due to start on 21st March. 9.00am to 10.00am at Redlynch State College Junior Campus.... In exciting news we will have both our 2018 & 2019 Senior Best & Fairest winners running the program this year. Thank you to Brodie Deverill &Tom Lindenmayer for volunteering. These two are also Captains of our senior club this year so its a great opportunity for kids to learn from some highly skilled footballers. 14.01.2022 G'day Lions Auskick families, Brodie & Tom are back in action and will be conducting the grand final Auskick session this Saturday followed by a bbq sausage sizzle. It would be great to see you all there. AFL Qld have configured a shortened Superstars season for 4 weeks on Friday nights in October, time and venue tbc. Superstars is the follow on from Auskick with participants learning skills in game based play then putting into practice in a modified mini game. We will be lo...oking to be involved and a couple of other clubs are in, if you are interested the information and registration is available on this link http://www.aflq.com.au/superstars To register you will need to select the Suns zone and then the Lions club. registration is $25, kids can wear their own shoes socks shorts, we have jerseys for them to wear on the nights. 11.01.2022 HELLO EVERYONE. TRAINING HAS FINALLY STARTED UP AGAIN.!! TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS AT REDLYNCH....START TIMES MAY VARY. THE FOOTY SEASON WILL HOPEFULLY BEGIN ON OR AFTER THE 11TH OF JULY. Our President Wayne has sent out an email with important information and I will attached the details of it here for anyone who missed it.... 8/6/20 G'day everyone, training starts for the older junior teams again tomorrow, we had a committee meeting Sunday to discuss the clubs covid policy and plans with some coaches in attendance to offer excellent ideas. We have the necessary sanitisers and paperwork to be compliant. However all players must be registered to commence training as it is part of the contact tracing protocol if someone gets sick. If you are having any trouble registering or the payment side please contact me and we'll get it sorted. Players who's fees were refunded are still registered and eligible to train. The Qld Govt has opened another round of Fairplay vouchers and extended eligibility to include anyone on jobkeeper or lost their job due to covid. Cairns AFL will be adopting the protocols of AFL QLD as they have been approved by the government and want all participants to follow them strictly. I have attached in PDF so please read and get the players to read. I have also attached roughly drawn plans of the training ovals at Redlynch with times for training on them, I have allowed an extra 15 minutes so as training time is not lost in cleaning the balls etc and I have split the start and finish time by 15 minutes so the groups don't all have to get in and out at the same time. this is part of our compliance however we know you can only do what you can do time wise. We can have three groups of twenty on an oval so for parents, if you are not involved with the training, please keep a good distance from the oval and do not have any contact with other players. We all want them to get back into it so we have to try and stick to the rules. Get in, Train Hard, Get Out. One last thing to remember everyone bring their own water bottle individually marked somehow so there is no confusion. And if you're sick stay home. Any Questions please email, text or ring. 07.01.2022 Auskick also postponed! As per recent communications about Junior football being postponed until after 31st May 2020. Our Auskick program due to start on Saturday 21st March has also been postponed at this stage.... Once we know more we will communicate.

05.01.2022 Under 14 training commencing! Under 14 Training is commencing tonight - 5.00 pm at Redlynch State College Senior campus under coach Shane Miller. Congratulations to Shane who has now fully completed the level 2 coaching accreditation and looking to use these skills learned in 2020.
